Shoulder pain and icy hot?

I'm a wrestler. but I have really bad shoulder pains. before practice I put on icy hot on my shoulder. and it absolutely burns the fuck out of my shoulder and I'm forced to wipe it off. am I suppose to use it after practice? should I try something different for my shoulder?

Is this a reoccurring pain? Because then there's probably another problem. Use heat for sore/tight muscles, ice for injured/swollen muscles. And maybe rest your should a bit

It's probably an injury then. I'd get it looked at. You don't want to exert it and make it worse

can I find that at a regular Walmart/Walgreen's? also is it expensive?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's at Walgreen's. It's like $6 or so. Not terribly expensive, but it really did help me. I fractured my wrist wrestling and it was the only thing that allowed me to keep going and get second place in state.

I'm in the 220 class. actually dropped a lot of unnecessary weight to get to it. what weight class were you in?

Same as you, but we called it heavyweight class back then. I used to be close to the line; 185 was the cutoff, and I'd go between 185 and 183 to change class if I needed to from heavyweight to 185 class. Heavyweight was anything over 185. Which kinda sucked for me, because I'd end up going against guys who were 350+, if I had that class. They should really change that.

350+ Pounds? that's just insane. the heavy weight class now is between 220 and 285. so anyone over 285 can't wrestle anymore.

Really? Wow. That's a good thing, though. I went against a guy once who was close to 400. Needless to say, at 187 against that, I stood almost no chance. :P It's good they did change it, though. I always thought that wasn't fair.

dam yeah that's really unfair to be honest. it isn't like that anymore. but someone who is 185 does have a choice to be in the 285 class if they'd like to. but they don't make you be in that class.

It sounds like you have an injury that you aren't allowing to heal. That could have long term consequences.

It's probably an injury which means you need to stop and give it time to rest and repair and heal itself.

I get the pain a lot during my practices depending on how my arm is bent and rotating
