Is this a cold sore or just a cut?

I’ve never had a cold sore in my entire life. But I got this red spot earlier and it just hurts. I’ve stayed home for the past month and not had a single person over bc of my newborn and everyone being sick. So I don't know how I would have gotten a cold sore

Here is an interesting fact. You don't need to kiss or have sex in order to get herpes. So many people out there have herpes from having it passed on by a parent during childbirth but they aren't aware because often at times herpes lies dormant in the body never showing any symptoms at all. The only way to know 100% if you are free from std is by doing a blood test that checks for the std antibodies in your body as swabs are a waste of money and time, because unless the person has active symptoms, the swabs will always come back negative.

the photo is hard to see, but appears to be a cut, if you have dry chapped lips, you can literally get a crack overnight, try ChapStick, lip balm. a cold sore/fever blister is a liquid filled blister and red. typically come from a viral infection

I can't tell by the picture. Cold sores are contagious from the moment you first feel tingling or other signs of a cold sore coming on to when the cold sore has completely healed.

Things to help:
• Creams to ease pain and irritation
• Antiviral creams to speed up healing time
• Cold sore patches to protect the skin while it heals

I don’t have any tingling. It’s just sore. So could it maybe not be a cold sore. I also can’t see any bumps it’s just red

It looks like an infection of some sort, but not a cold sore. Those usually look like tiny pimples, I think.
