Fitness help?

I have a naturally thick build, and I want to slim it down. I go running every morning, at least 2.5 miles, I started 2 months ago. I can feel the muscle in my legs but I can't see them, and I seem to be getting bigger, not smaller. It could just be my imagination because I am a teenage girl stuck in a world telling me that I have to be a size 2. Should I change my exercise routine, or is there anything I can do with me diet? I would really appreciate some input.
