Seriously; I wanna know. What are the "negatives" to being tall, besides really minor, stupid things like bumping your head, not being able to wear gaudy, high-fashion clothing, and not having "comfortable airplane seats." I would 100% rather be 212 cm (seven feet tall) than the shitty 180 cm I am now. (Yes, I despise being my height. No, I don't hide that. I legit f*cking hate being shorter than every guy I know and equal to most of my exes.)
But yeah, I don't see the "negatives" in being a bigger, taller, stronger person who society looks up to, figuratively and literally. That's like complaining about being rich, or complaining about being too attractive looking. I don't get it.
So, can the tall people please explain it to me?
For men 6'1"/186 cm and up only. And women 5'9"/175 cm and up only.

Why do tall people complain about being tall? What are the negatives that come with being tall?
• I am often uncomfortable riding in vehicles. My head often touches the ceiling if I am unable to recline my seat.
•The world is designed for short people. I have to bend over to interact with many things. As a result, I often deal with back pain.
•Some (especially older) buildings have low doorways. I have hit my head just walking from one room to another. While that is rare because I can see the doorframe and am able to duck (something that short people do not need to worry about) many stairways have ceilings that extend over some of the steps. These are harder to see because I am rarely looking directly over my head while walking. I have more than once hit the top of my head while ascending stairs.
•I wear large clothing. It is not easy to find affordable clothing/shoes. While the low demand for huge items would suggest an inexpensive price, the supply is even lower than the demand.
•Short people need help. When I am shopping, Complete strangers often ask me to retrieve merchandise from top shelves for them. It makes me either feel like a jerk or take longer to complete my trip.
I wish that I were even taller. I also wish that more things were designed to accommodate my height. If I could always ride in larger vehicles and have all tables/counters/doorways raised by 8-10”/20-25cm I would not have problems.
I'm 6'3-6'4 and the only complaint i have is that the world is made for "average" sized people and it has caused me to permanently slouch. I have terrible posture. It's not uncommon for people door frames or basements to only be 6 ft high. Sitting in a car if I sit with good posture I can only see literally like 5m of the road directly in front of the car. Countertops and tables and all surfaces of the house were built for the "average" person so a comfortable table/counter for me would be like 8 inches higher. All these things make me permanently hunched.
I am 5'10 and I fking hate it. Its next to impossible to find pants which aren't just way too short, same problem with shoes. I feel like an ogre next to shorter women and even worse next to shorter men. I get reduced to my height on a daily basis, like I'm not good for anything besides being able to reach objects on high shelves.
But besides clothes, why do you hate it? You can be seen as powerful, model-like, and elegant. Do you think being small and feeling weak and helpless would be any better for you? What height would you rather be?
I wish that I could have found a woman who is your height. I did not mention it in my post, but being much taller than my wife (and the ladies that I dated before marriage) I always bend down for kisses. I can sit and still be taller than many (standing) ladies.
I'd love to be about 5'5, maybe even shorter than that. I'm an introvert and I really don't want to stick out, being half a head taller than many people around me doesn't really help here. It's like my body is just way too big for me if this makes sense.
@Hurlyburly So you'd rather be tiny and go unnoticed and invisible? I guess I can understand that. Maybe it's a female thing. But do you really want to trade attractiveness for invisibility? I mean, would you be in the same relationship you are now if you were socially invisible and had nothing special or noteworthy about you? As an introvert, that would probably make it much harder for you to meet the person you're with now, wouldn't it? They might not have even noticed you.
I'm an introvert too but I hate the idea of people assuming I'm weak or an easy target. But maybe that's because I'm male. I get looked at as the runt even though I fight a lot doing MMA and boxing. I don't mind positive attention, but being ignored is even worse to me than negative attention.
5'5 wouldn't be tiny, it would be an average height. Also, I think being short as a female is way way more attractive than being tall. I've met my boyfriend through common friends, my height didn't play any role with that. Also, I really wouldn't want to date someone just because they fetishize me being tall. That's just ughh.
You think being 5’10” is bad? Try being 6’4”! I feel massive around shorter women and most guys are intimidated by me. I hate being a tall woman! I don’t understand why girls and women wanna be taller? Men don’t like tall women! I rather be 5’9 and under even though 5’9, is tall for a woman. Even some petite girls say I’m terrifying as hell and I’m intimidating. I don’t wanna be intimidating but they said it’s a good thing.
I’m 6’2” and I’m constantly hitting my head on things at work in houses built for 5’7” midgets my back always has issues my knees hurt and when I got heavier I started to get shin splints when jogging since 30% body fat on a 6’2” equals to 260lbs plus when I was a teenager and used to fight all the time people would always try to jump me or use weapons due to my size also when I dated girls my age people thought I was a pedo (teenager days as well) and as you age those knee and back problems only get worse also finding clothes sucks ass since things are either made for smaller 5’10” guys and you’re still not big enough for the big and tall shops since you’d have to be 7 feet there I know 6’2” doesn’t seem like much but for a Mexican imma giant lolll
Bad back as you get older, stretching is a pain, Bumping your head into hard objects, sizes of clothes tent to be too short making you look like frankenstein, it's harder to fit in places and you scare kids more.
Overall, the grass is always greener on the other side. If anyone's logic were true, they would go... Yeah that kinda sucks... But honestly being an average height is probably the safest bet but even then, being average isn't significant either.. it's normal
I am 5'10 and still growing as the women in my family grow until they are 21. It is impossible to find clothing as most is made for girls who are around 5'5-5'6. Jeans are a nightmare, so are dresses and skirts/shirts. I usually either get a big size and get it tailored or shop from the men's section (which doesn't have the most feminine clothes).
I haven't been able to fit in a bed without my legs sticking out unless the bed is suitable for 1.5 people and above.
People mistook me as an adult/teen ever since I was 12. This lead to some very awkward situations such as 20 something year olds staring at my legs in public when I was only barely a teen. I know this happens to every girl on the planet, but it happens to us taller girls way more.
Also, an honorable mention, and more of a silly reason is the "How's the weather up there" fuck you Kyle.
All things aside though, I do like being tall, it's got its perks. :)
Well your about 5'10, so it's not like you are short.. 😅.. And, I myself wouldn't want to be 7 feet or even anything over 6'6 inches cause then it starts to become a real pain, and you gotta get everything custom made cause.. And about the height of all your exes? Damn what corner of the world do you live on for women to be "5'10" on a regular.. 😅..
Fr the average US height for men is 5’9” and women is 5’4” and even if you wanna exclude all the short races the tallest country on earth which is the nether lands has a male average height of 6’ and female of 5’8”
I hate adjusting gym equipment to fit me after some manlet has used it. I hate hitting my head on a steel gate to my place that's 1" shorter than me. And yes, flying is torture.
But other than that, I wouldn't trade it for anything. Especially considering how much guys hate being short. I'm 6'4" so I can't relate.
Think the main part of normal thinking people get fed up with wining tall people who seems to cry about everything, and calling great guys manlet just show the nobrain many of us tall people show, think we are superior and that the world need to fit eveytgy for y Us , eventhoug only maximum 10 % can be called tall, and a person only 5 cm above average can't really cry about anything, so even less than 3-4% can feel there height as a problem, but still do we few people want the world to size up to us , and still have the right to call shorter men MANLET, now in my opinion every one of us who gave the nerve to call a shorter guy a manlet ought to accept things like it is, but I can't stand people feeling sorrow from them self, now we are very quick to mention that some few short men have a Napoleon complex, I think it's more normal to see tall people with a " Tall people" complex and they seems a lot mor unattractive to have. To you info I'm a 204 cm tall woman, and I'd never felt any great problem with being tall, except getting shoes and certain clothes, but my 1821 cm tall hubby also face problems buying clothes too, and obviously also need to accept stupid narcissistic guy calling him a manlet
I am 190 cm tall and the only benefits I see about being shorter is that I don't have to bend my back to do the dishes. I have a friend who is 205 and he said that there are more benefits than drawbacks.
6’4” and it is shit. People give me shit for it and dating is the worst! 5’9 women think they have it tough, try being 6’4”. Tall guys are intimidated by me.
I'm 6'3" and I'm fine with my height as it is, but that doesn't mean I won't complain about never being comfortable on an airplane or having a hard time finding shirts that fit right.
Most guys do not care about the height of girls whatsoever. And I actually prefer tall girls over short ones, because I myself am short and hate the idea of being in a "short couple." It feels like settling or only being with someone because I can't find anyone else willing to genuinely love me so I'm "taking the only option I can get."
