+1 yAbsolutely
1. Every surgery involves a risk. Those risks need to be outweighted by the benefits. That is NOT the case. The risk of the boy suffering from phimosis, etc. is about equal to the risk of complications through the surgery.
2. There are alternative methods in case of phimosis for example. The foreskin is stretchable and a good amount of surgeries can be prevented by regular stretch of the skin.
3. A baby can't be fully anaesthetised. This means the baby boy is exposed to a good amount of the pain. Look here: http://edition.cnn.com/HEALTH/9712/23/circumcision.anesthetic/
4. My body my choice. That should count for boys as well. Don't make boys second class citizen, by ignoring their right to bodily integrity.
5. Pain can cause psychological trauma. Doesn't matter if the baby boy "doesn't remember". The brain still maps said trauma and thus can affect a boy psychologically. Unfortunately there is no proper research on this matter, yet.
6. Aesthetics is not an argument for circumcision. It is an ridiculous argument. We don't suggest cutting off a girls clitoris either for aesthetics. Well, the countries who do that - argue that way.
7. Hygiene is not an argument for circumcision. Aside from the fact, that the research on circumcision being more hygienic is questionable - every boy should learn how to clean themselves properly. That does NOT warrant surgery. We don't suggest removing peoples fingernails, because they are unhygienic people, either.
8. STDs are NOT an argument for circumcision. Aside from the fact, that the HIV study that suggests a reduced risk is questionable - it still involves a risk. People should still have protection and be responsible about sex either way.
9. Circumcision is effectively mutiliation. You cut off a piece of the body that actually has functions.
10. Keeping circumcision legal layers the legal grounds for female mutiliation as well as the removal of the foreskin is 100% equivalent to the removal of the clitoral hood (= NOT the clitoris, but the clitoral hood). Keeping male circumcision legal causes a lot of legal issues on that matter and are essentially sexist laws.
11. The foreskin isn't just "a piece of skin", but actually has protective functions for the penis glans.
12. "So he doesn't look different than his dad" is a fucking moronic argument. If the boys dad lost his arm, we don't cut the boys arm off either, so the boy "doesn't" look different than his dad".43 Reply- +1 y
My babies were not upset at all. The numbing cream thoroughly numbed them.

@loves2learn
Keep telling yourself that and ignore what actual doctors who made that experiment said about the pain levels. If it helps you sleep at night to have put your boys through unnecessary pain and took away their bodily autonomy, tell yourself these lies. - +1 y
Maybe other procedures are painful. My boys were perfectly happy. And live and learn. If you read my comment you will see I actually recommend against circumcision most of the time.

+1 yIt should be only carried out under medical agreement and with the knowledge that the medical establishment can be sued later on once the boy is 18 if it can be proved there was no actual medical reason (parents basically went private and paid for it).
it is a big crap that a child with no say in the matter is mutilated physically, likely 99% of the time with zero medical reasons.
in a modern country, where good hygiene is always possible, there can be no claim for it being something to stop infection etc.
No so far as illegal but making it only allowable there are clear medical concerns.
yes and religion, although even then, the world has moved on a bit since then…20 Reply
+1 yAs a mother to two boys I had to make this decision together with my husband. Our oldest son was born with a penile anomaly, hypospadias, which gave the appearance of a half-way circumcised penis. . In the end we opted to have both boys circumcised by a pediatric urologist (baby penis expert). I was present for both procedures. The first was quite uneventful. A small amount of skin was removed and poof he was circumcised. My youngest son’s procedure was very different. The amount of skin removed made me nauseous. It looked like an entire baby’s penis worth of skin. I feared maybe I had made the wrong decision. I didn’t realize how different it would be from my other son. . In the end I am happy with our decision to circumcise both boys. I think it would have been hard on my younger son’s mental health to look different from his dad and brother. . That being said, I would give the recommendation not to circumcise except for cases of penile anomaly. . However I do not put it in the same category as FGM unless the FGM is simply removing the clitoral hood. That would be the only comparable surgery. (And fun fact I do not have a hood.) FGM can sometimes include removal of the clitoris, labia and even sewing the vagina closed. That is truly abhorrent.

+1 yUnless it's like done for medical reasons where the doctor insists, then yes, it should be illegal.
It's interesting how some of the 'my body my choice' people have no problem with it, proving their hypocrisy, though not all are like that.20 Reply4.8K opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. I had my boys circumcised and I was circumcized. My father had to be circumcised in his 50's. It was very unpleasant.

+1 yMy circumcision left me with a disfiguring scar that will cost me thousands of dollars to have fixed. I didn't ask for this to be done to me, they just did it.

+1 yYes absolutely. I'm sorry mutilating a perfectly healthy baby of either gender is just disgusting and wrong.
Plus it's rarely if ever medically necessary.14 Reply- +1 y
I have a solution for mothers that absolutely love to cut on their little boys dick.. Force them to endure the exact same pain.. Make a device that will transfer the pain to the mother as it's happening.

My boys were thoroughly numbed during the procedure.

@loves2learn that's ok.. Its every parents choice to do it.. But know this, its not medically necessary, nor is there much benefit to it. This is according to the American Society of pediatrics.

@worldscolide Thank you for that! I actually agree with you! My oldest son was born with hypospadias and the look of a half circumcised penis. I felt it would be more damaging to his mental health to look different from everyone else. He didn’t have a frenulum so that little piece of foreskin was not functional.
My younger son we could have chosen not to circumcise. My only experience being the easy procedure I saw with my older son. I am not a penis expert and did not realize how different the procedure was for a typical penis.
We do our best as parents. 🤷🏻♀️ Live and learn. It may have been hard on my youngest to look different from his brother. He looks up to his brother in every way.
+1 yI think it should be illegal for children, but legal for adults.

+1 ythere is no harm in it. Millions of women get plastic surgery :D Also I am circumcised and it's more beautiful like that.

It’s a bit immoral to mutilate a child though. If a man decided later in life for it then fine
- +1 y
it does no harm :)
- +1 y
It’s cruel
- +1 y
there is nothing painful or harmful, it's not cruel :) I remember the moment I was circumcised :)
- +1 y
I’m sure that’s a lie
- +1 y
i am not telling. i am 6 years old when circumcised :)

A child who can’t consent
- +1 y
When we were kids, we didn't agree to anything. Families decide everything. It has a benefit, not a harm in terms of health :)
- +1 y
It’s not got any benefits. Just clean your dick it’s not hard

no healthy :)

It’s made for lazy men

Many adult males are circumcised now.
+1 yI am circumcised, I think uncircumcised men look ugly. Circumcision is mandatory for some religious groups. I am totally against FGM.

Anonymous(25-29)+1 yshouldn't be. Male circumcision is normal. Female genital mutilation is a crime against humanity peculiar only to tribes in Africa.
24 Reply- +1 y
Male circumcision is only "normal" cos people allow it to be. The baby cannot consent to the unnecessary surgery and it can cause complications. Have you ever seen what they do to the baby? It's horrific.
Opinion Owner+1 yThis does not concern me. It doesn't concern you either. Instead of barking at me here, then fight with the families of "little babies". Don't be a lawyer here. Or stop. If circumcision should be illegal, common-law fucks should be illegal too. What do you call that, lawyer @HarleyQuinnWannabe?

Lol you clearly are concerned to add an opinion. Don’t attack her for stating facts
Opinion Owner+1 yBut that was my idea though. then he should have written his own opinion too. but not under my comment. @Aquariusmystery right? Lmfao
