Wow that's a pretty broad question.
When you're in depreciation you can't see out of it, everything seems hopeless and pointless, but you need to find a way to believe that it does get better and there is a way to climb out of it.
I know this sounds completely counterintuitive but at least once a day try and have a positive thought for a few minutes, depression feeds on itself and if you don't battle it to keep it in control it can spiral without you realising it.
Do you know the reason for you depression? Having a full awareness of the reason for your depression can help you to tackle it bit by bit.
Have people around you that care for you. I know that you think nobody wants to be around a bummer like me at the moment, but that really isn't true. Having your friends around you will help remind you of all the good things in your life.
On the flip side of that, remove anyone from your life who is toxic. This can be really hard I know but the benefit to you in the long run is immense, you don't need people in your life that make you feel bad about yourself.
There is so much more I could say on the subject but somethings are specific to the cause of your depression.
I'm always here for anyone who needs someone to talk to, it's often beneficial to speak to people who you don't know and have no connection to as you can be far more honest. I do also have some counselling training so can be helpful to you if you need it, but regardless of who you talk to it is essential to talk to someone about it.
Take care.20 Reply

+1 yMy best advice is think of it like river and just let the emotions pass.. the more you try and not allow them the more fierce they come back. Your feelings have a purpose even if you dont know what that is set aside 30 mins and just be with your feelings.. let the feelings come and go without taking claim to them; without telling yourself whats wrong with me; there's no bad or wrong feelings everything has a purpose!
There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace. Think of your emotions like a river just let them pass through be by yourself as you confront them then after the 30 mins of being real without any feelings of guilt and shame.. without thinking your feelings are a to do list.. if your sad just cry and scream let it pass and without giving into dispair we gotta be our own best friends and thinking of my emotions like a waterfall has helped just letting them flow through without stopping them... not sure if this makes sense.. we can't control what just pops into our heads but we can control what we dewell our thoughts on!

Medication is the only thing that helps me during a mood disorder episode. It's been trial error with which medication helps best though. I don't want to be medicated but there's only so much talking therapy, exercise, diet, mindfulness, etc, you can do. Sometimes the brain chemistry is just off and it needs a bit of a nudge. Plus you don't have to be on medication forever. I would advise that if things are getting too much and mood is consistently low, or high, or you're losing a grip on things you must go to your doctor and seek help.

+1 yThe best way is to go and see a professional counsellor and sit down with them.
before then write out all the things you believe make you depressed, or impact your overall mental health.
also write down if they are any triggers that cause a sudden depression, how long it lasts for.
this will give the counsellor something to go from.
They will then either take you on or put you in touch with someone that is more specialised in what is causing or potential cause of your mental health issue (s).
they will also advise you from their professional point of view based on what you have shared with them, the best strategy specific to you as an individual.20 Reply

Time and events help... As time progresses, your current events/recent past become history as the people in your life now mostly drift away in a few years. Those people are no longer part of your life but characters in your life's story. You reflect back on them and they influenced you, but they won't be relevant in your life at that moment. You will have met new people and be in new situations and so the sting of the past will be mitigated.20 Reply- 801 opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic.
+1 y0. vow to get better and life a full life of love and fullfillment you deserve. practice positive thinking, turn off junk media, junk song, create order in your world to heal your mind and heart.
1. accept and love yourself, that you are safe and ok. meditate, pray to heal your brain. Take responsibility for your life and your environment.
2: read up on why you'd be like this and examine yourself. Try to find the source of the disorder. Here's a video that talks about how mothers can impac a child. It's just one facet of what can go wrong. your mind is simply saying "something went wrong... pay attention".
Use the tools of psycholgy like, erickson/clark chart to locate an find the root source of the problem then find ways to heal those. Praying, therapy, etc..
3. Set goals to get better, journal/write.
That will get you a long ways. from where you are. The brain... is a sensitive organ.10 Reply
+1 yI’m still struggling with depression, but it has gotten a bit better regardless of my surroundings. But I do use this app on my phone called HearMe & its amazing. I’m not sure if this app is available on Android. But basically if you need someone to talk to, that’s the way to go! I’ve never had a negative experience on the app at all & on top of that, it’s not like any of the creepy apps you see. I highly suggest it!
Also, what I usually do to help myself out is take like a late-night drive while playing some music. It definitely has helped me along with the app25 Reply- +1 y
I also forgot the mention that the app is completely free. You don’t have to pay for anything & its unlimited

Who are you talking to on the app?

its with random people who became a certified listener on the app. You have to go through an application process & get selected to become a listener. But all the individuals i’ve spoken too are absolutely great & they don’t judge at all which is a +.

Thanks a lot I will try this app out

Not a problem! ☺️
+1 yKnow that you are not alone! Many people have been there and recovered! 🤗 Try to focus on the positive things about yourself and what you can do for others! Get therapy or find someone you trust to talk things out! Talking out loud about something with another person will almost always change your perspective and help you understand it better! Every single one of us suffers from something, we are all alike in that aspect. Don’t worry because your hardships have the potential to make you a stronger person. 😊

Also understand that while depression might be a temporary reaction to current events in your life; it may be due to an actual medical condition. There is no widespread shame in visiting the doctor or seeking care for a broken leg or physical disability; nor should there be shame in seeking care for a terrible mood/sadness or a mental disability. Love yourself and take care of your body and mind! 😊
+1 yTry to think of yourself as a friend, don't let your mind say any mean things that you wouldn't say to a friend. If you have a problem, what advice would you give a friend of they came to you for advice with this.
I'm sorry you're going through this, don't feel guilty. Just be ok the way you are, even if it's depressed. Do something small for yourself each day, even if it's just listening to a song you like.
Many hugs 🫂10 Reply2.7K opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. Fight through it but also get real help as in professional help if you can. And do not try to go through it alone surround yourself with family and friends and let them in and let them know what’s going on.
just a side note I’m mainly talking about depression since that’s what I have experience in.10 Reply4.9K opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. Depression can be caused by losing control of your life. Covid really threw a lot of people into this. Try and find something about your life that you have lost control over. It could be you put on a lot of weight over the last year or you have gone crazy spending money on stupid stuff. Try and work towards improving the situation.

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yI’m 25. I have very bad anxiety and depression. Most of it is from my mindset, low self esteem & feeling as though I’m less than/behind in life. If you struggle with routine & productivity, just know that you are most likely never really going to feel all that motivated. HOWEVER, it’s not about waiting to feel motivated, it’s about telling yourself you are going to get up, workout, shower etc. without giving yourself a choice. Whenever I’m laying in bed really sad that I need to do something & I feel like I can’t, I often times get up and do it. It makes me feel powerful, and like my depression is a monster that I’m in control of & choking to death if that makes sense. Also, positive affirmations!!! Try your best to think good thoughts. When I’m feeling down about myself, I list out all the things I like about myself, and think about all the positive comments I’ve received from others on my appearance, personality, etc. hang in there 💕

+1 yGet correctly diagnosed by a good psychiatrist.
Explain your symptoms precisely.
Don't forget "sadness" is not "depression" .
Once you start a regimen of medication monitor your symptoms.
Be self aware. If the medication does not work inform your doctor.
He will adjust your meds.10 Reply
Anonymous(25-29)+1 yTry to learn to love yourself. Fight the self loathing inner voice or it will kill you, like deliberately contradict it in your mind every time you hear it.
Go work out, the endorphins won't necessarily make you feel less depressed, but it will also make your baseline feel better both physically and mentally.10 ReplyI have suffered Depression and Anxiety since my early teens medication can help but don't be solely reliant on it find hobbies keep busy and any form of exercise is fantastic in my experience good luck sweetheart you got this xx

+1 yI still am. Meds and talk therapy really help. So does talking to friends. In your case talking to your minister might help too.
20 ReplyStill struggling. This is really basic and probably sucks, but it's what I've done for years... Just listen to some music, find a hobby and just wait it out. Focus on the knowledge that it's going to end.
