It certainly is. There was one summer where I spent the whole summer (this was during covid) watching Star Trek. I didn't really do much besides that. But I wasn't watching it for like 15 or 20 hrs a day. I might have gone out for walks and maybe I went out with my parents when they went grocery shopping or did other errands. I feel like I have to move around. I have to get some exercise. I feel guilty if I don't. How can anyone sit in front of a tv screen for 15 hrs?
Yes and too many of us are guilty of this. I’m convinced that if we all through our TVs in the garbage we could have a cure for cancer or something. It really is a waste of time.
Yes, extremely unhealthy. My mom is kind of the same. Expect she à senior now. She has problems with her ankles being inflated. And does nothing about it. Doesn't eat the best, doesn't move as much as she should. Always use her ankles as a excuse for not doing anything. I wish she would listen to me, I worry about her. Yet my dad works out, goes for runs. But still doesn't eat as healthy either. He doesn't really know how to cook.
Yes, it is unhealthy.
Until she wants to change, nothing will happen. So don't even bother getting upset about it, nagging her about it, you will only become enemy.
Only way is to offer to try go for a walk with you something simple in the beginning, not nagging and/or judging.

You basically already gave the correct answer yourself...
I stopped using the idiot box a looong time ago. I can't stand commercials and all my relevant news and documentary programs I can watch non-linearly on the net.
Same here.
Depends on what it is you're watching, sometimes it can be very educational. But generally speaking, yea it's usually just a waste of a day and you'll wish all those years wasted watching mindless TV didn't go by if you never do anything else.
It can make it hard to sleep. It may also lead to loss of motivation to hangout with friends or get out to exercise
It's unhealthy, much worse then people playing 🎮 all days. She is wasting her life, and she will get dementia from that lifestyle.
In and of itself, no- there's nothing about watching TV that's harmful. It's what she's NOT doing that might cause problems.
Not good for your circulation.
Blood pooling in the legs.
Like a long flight or road trip.
Well, its been proven that sitting on our asses all day is unhealthy. So try not to make a habit of it.
It can cause health problems to your eyes, back, legs, feet, heart etc.
Extremely unhealthy. Is she suffering from depression?
It's a form of distraction so you don't have to deal with your internal voice your mom might have given up on life.
Or she addicted
First of all sitting all day makes your butt ache and causes eye strain from watching for too long.
Did I read that right, 10am until 1AM? Oh my...
Have you ever suggested going for a walk?
Yes, that is downright depressing.
Yes, of course. Isn't that obvious?
Sounds like my retired stepdad
Inactivity is never healthy
Pretty much described me
It does get boring
