Was Covid from a lab?

I have just read a news headline that evidence has been uncovered that points towards Covid originating in a lab. I don't know the full story yet, but it seems that the genome indicates an early type of virus. Anyone know any more? Got any theories?

Maybe. The simple truth that it easily could've been is pretty scary (they WERE conducting gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology and they DID lie about it), but I doubt we'll ever know for sure. At this point, that's really more a broad-scope problem. I think our focus should be more on making sure we have VERY clear (preferably strict as well, but definitely clear) laws governing this sort of thing; if this had been a more dangerous virus, we could be in SERIOUS trouble.

But there's another, much more sinister aspect that I can't help thinking about. Now, let me be clear: even if Covid WAS created in a lab, I don't think it was released deliberately. Chinese scientific standards have been kind of dubious for a LONG time, and Communist Chinese scientific standards doubly so (some of the things I've read would make even Lysenko roll his eyes in disbelief), but I doubt that they'd deliberately release a virus with so many unknown risks, knowing that it would affect the whole world. Even Anthony Fauci, a man who makes the Chinese government look almost benevolent in comparison, isn't THAT stupid.

But have you ever heard of Corrupted Blood? The video game World of Warcraft is a massively-multiplayer online role-playing game (or MMORPG in video game lingo), and has huge numbers of players playing it together at the same time (at your age, you probably already know this, but I say it in case you don't). In 2005, a new expansion was released for the game that added a high-level endgame boss who afflicted player characters near him with a condition called "corrupted blood" that drained their life points over time, inflicting hundreds of points of damage every few seconds. It was even spreadable from player to player, so you couldn't avoid it just by attacking him from range; it'd spread from him to other players to you. Very high level characters had so many life points that this was a controllable thing- you couldn't just ignore it, but if you kept periodically healing yourself, you could wait out the timer and survive. But low-level players would die instantly. This wasn't a problem, as it was limited to the area of this one boss fight, and low-level players would know not to go there- or so was the intention. It turned out that summoned creatures, when unsummoned, didn't have the condition timer stop, so if they were summoned in a crowded city (I never played World of Warcraft, but my understanding is that you'd need to do that periodically), it could spread to other players, and even non-player characters, who couldn't be killed by it, but could spread it themselves.

All those skeletons and bodies are of characters killed by it.

It became known as the "Corrupted Blood plague", and is actually remembered with something like fondness by many of those who played through it (MMO players are WEIRD, but I guess it was at least unique and memorable), but epidemiologists are also fascinated by it: a new disease emerges in a controlled, contained environment. People have no idea (at first) how it happens, and panic in response. Some hide themselves away, trying to avoid it (you could avoid it simply by not logging on, but since this is a game with subscription fees, few would do that); others go and investigate, usually dying themselves; some high-level characters make themselves available for healing others, trying to prevent them, and no one has any idea what's going on; it probably seemed like Blizzard (the creator) was trying to do something totally new and novel, setting up some huge, world-altering event, instead of frantically trying to ID and patch a bug in the program.

In 2009, Reuters published an article talking about just this, and relating to the then-"everybody panic!" incidence of swine flu. Unlike every other "epidemic" of this century, this time we had an actual disease, that nobody (save those who'd been exposed to SARS) had immunity to. How would people react?

What's the conspiracy gonna be if it was or wasn't? What difference does it make where it came from? It's here, turned the world upside down, took relatively sane individuals and morphed them into rabid radicals, and pointing fingers isn't going to change any of it.

It's a virus. An influenza. Some mutations more virulent than others. Some survive, some don't. Vaccines, proven or unproven, taken or not, masks, used or not, quarantining, done or not, only serves to further divide. And that's what's being done Divide and polarize.

Politicians of all ilks and levels, foreign or domestic, all with differing opinions and political agendi, more worried about keeping their jobs and how they look to their peers, because they need the banked political clout or endorsement, instead of doing the right thing for their constituency.

Doctors, virologists, immunologists, nurses, respiratory therapists, et al, all with their solutions and sides of the story, influenced by fact, evidence based deductions and field experience, trying to get a word in edgewise, but being smothered by the din of ignorance brought on by partisan politics and their talking head shows.

It's here, and what's happened has happened. The damage has been done. The question remaining is what do we, as a global society, do about it? Apparently shouting the loudest, to win the most support, seems to be the default strategy, because it seems to be the thing that's worked in the past.

What's left? War? Rebellion? The U. S. seems to be on the civil war precipice, thanks to all of the divisive pot stirring by a few loudmouth demi-gods pounding on their conspiracies and their staunch brainwashed cult members. The stage is set, but somehow, and I'm surprised, we've remained relatively civilized, even if what we've seen so far could be considered uncivilized.

In the end, does it really matter how, who, why, or when? Lab? Nature? Deliberate? Accidental. People are only interested in pushing the agenda they're indoctrinated with, right or wrong, fact or fiction. It doesn't matter. They just want to get in on something, and ride someone's coattails so they think they're being heard. Truth is, no one in power hears them or cares. Those in power are only jockeying for political position and using their constituencies to bolster their apparent clout.

The power is in numbers. Us... ours, not the politicians, yet here we sit, supporting those with no true concern for anyone but themselves. For change to come, they have to go and a representative government that is pro people and country, not pro 'what can I do to appear to help, but instead help myself and line my pockets at these losers expenses.'

You've been fooled. You know that, right? Despite what they say, and it's all good and reasonable from your viewpoint. You've been sucked in to whatever side you support. You've lost the ability to think for yourself and trust way too much, what's been supplanted as reasonable, for radical. You don't even recognize that you've been compromised. And that's sad.

Yea. This has been known for a long time from people who PAY ATTENTION and don't just follow what mainstream news has said. More often then not these "conspiracy theorists " aren't just spouting off nonsense. More often then not they have sources to back it up.

I would suggest that you look more into things and not just believe the first article that you see or the first news article. I am not saying that I have "seen behind the curtain" But I can tell you there is some idiots out there and controlled opposition.

I don't have theories... but I just read three long ass different articles, and here's a particular fact that news failed to mention

while there was ONE sample of a coronavirus that is similar to COVID-19 and this sample was in a lab in China... there has been TWELVE other samples, all from different places of the world that are as, or more similar to COVID-19 and all these different candidate samples have been found on wildlife sources/origins...

so... out of 13 samples... 12 originate from the wild... and one originates from a lab, if you look at a 1/13 chance as the most likely origin, well... that's a particular mathematical approach I would not follow

however, for the sake of argument, let's focus on this lab sample and what scientists had to said about this sample when reviewed by peers

Yes, it was from the Wuhan lab in China. It has been widely known for a long time (but denied repeatedly by liberals in the media and government because they were involved). One of the scientists was from the USA and was forced to stop working on it before and then went to China to finish it. there was even government communications uncovered and revealed in congress (Rand Paul and one other congressperson mentioned it too, beside the stuff that was uncovered about Faucci and the gain of function research that was proven).
No evidence matters at all to liberals though. It is all "conspiracy theories" no matter how much evidence there is. Just like vaccine mandates and vaccine passports were "conspiracy theories."

That has always been the most plausible explanation for it. We knew very early on, that the viral genome came from a population of bats hundreds of miles from wuhan. So why wouldn't the outbreak originate somewhere near the bats that carry it? The obvious answer is that researchers had collected sars-like bat virus samples over several years and brought them to the wuhan lab for study.

Yes, it has been shown that the Corona Virus 19 was developed in a Chinese lab. it is difficult normally for a virus to jump species. this Virus has been shown to have been genetically manipulated to make this possible. The virus was either released in September of 2019 or escaped. Why were the Chinese developing this virus in the first place? Why have they not been forced to pay for this Disaster?
