
When you can't sleep, what do you do to get tired?


For me, I never "got tired." Either I was or wasn't. That said, you can be tired, yet get a shot of adrenaline to your system, that keeps you up beyond regular sleep habits.
First, you don't want something that will aid adrenaline production. Working out or similar activity more often causes adrenaline and not making you "tired."
Second, some foods will cause sleep, while others will give you an adrenaline, (or similar) spike. This changes due to body chemistry, so I won't say categorically what does what, but for me, sugar isn't called a high for nothing. Certain natural fruits are high in sugar, or foods you wouldn't think have sugar, like iced cream.
Third, goes along with first. Watch what you watch. While you might enjoy action flicks, or political debates, those are viewed items that require full attention and not allow you to drowse. Likewise, watching something you hate gets the blood flowing too, right?
So watch what is on the razors edge; not too interesting, but not so boring as to ruffle your feathers.
Fourth, time. Don't think about going to bed within 15 minutes or less. You need to allow your body to start relaxing as much as an hour prior to when you want to be asleep.
Lastly, supposedly color and subdued light has a lot to do with how calm and relaxed you are. Flash bright lights in your face, and you aren't going to sleep anytime soon.
Color is kind of contrary. You'd think blues are something that makes you relaxed, because they seem to blur already. But the more things blur, the more your eyes work harder to focus on such blue lights. An easier color is red.

I count backwards from 300 by threes. 300, 297, 294... It helps occupy your mind just enough to keep your thoughts from wandering, but it’s mundane enough to not make you more awake. I’ve been using this trick for years and I’ve only reached the end a couple of times. It also helps to start with a different number every now and then so you don’t get too used to the sequence

I feel sleepy around 2 am now thankfully instead of 3 am. Till that I do my writing job while listening to piano music. And then I sleep to the music and wake up to that.
Thinking about what i did today, doing some exercises, reading a book, writing an article, solving my friends problems, trying to make a simulation for the 4th dimension because i need it in my novel, planning how to make my future better, praying, and after all of that i feel tired and sleep in less than 5 minutes, I don't know why i feel that you want me to say that i beat my meat to sleep but i will try to pretend that i didn't notice.
