What to do any helpful suggestions?
what I did, was this... and it took me years
I forgot about the idea of falling asleep... I quit on trying to falling asleep
instead, I just focused on rest... resting, getting as comfortable as possible (zero lights, as cold as possible) and also focused on not moving at all... once I found a comfortable position to rest, I would just close my eyes... do nothing, think of almost nothing
it took me months to get used to it... because I was still restless sometimes, but eventually... I got used to just relax and rest, and forget about the idea of falling asleep and eventually... I started to just falling asleep
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
chances are that too that there's a whole lot going on in your mind... like it was in my case, so that... will need some attention as well, but try to address these things during the day
because I used to overthink way too much at night, when I did nothing during the day to face and address some of the issues I was having
good... consider it a two-front battle...
not really no, sorry... if I knew one or there was one that actually works instantly
there would be no insomniacs no more... lol (=
Take a shower, drink a glass of warm milk. Pay attention to your breathing and heart rate and slow down your breathing. You will reach a point where you feel like you can't breathe if you doing it right. This happens because your heart is still trying to go at normal pace which requires more oxygen. If you maintain the slow breathing your heart will slow down. This in turn will slowdown blood flow and help slow your brain down. The combination can help you sleep. If you get good at it you will be able to fall asleep anytime you want
Honestly, just laying still with your eyes closed and breathing steady for 20 minutes carries the same physical benefits as a 20 minute power nap. If you can’t sleep, rest. Listen to some music and daydream to it as you rest so your mind is occupied. As long as you just take the time to try and rest even when you can’t sleep, your body will get through it
In general the more you try, the more miserable you are.
So quit trying. @NathanDavis gave some good tips.
I will just add that thought trains are often the biggest problem. Try guided meditation, to learn to put them away. You can find plenty on YouTube or Spotify

Stress and anxiety or other mental conditions, lifestyle, or a poor sleeping environment are usually the main cause of insomnia. Some suggestions could be to avoid caffeine or alcohol before bed time, try to relax before bedtime, go to bed around the same time, do not watch TV or be on any electronics before bed, avoid napping during the day, light a candle or aromatherapy in your room, use blackout curtains, and zero light in your room. Maybe doing all these suggestions could help with your insomnia. If it persists, I suggest talking to a doctor. Wish you the best.
I keep myself in a state of carefully managed exhaustion so I can just... fall unconscious at about the right time. The consequence of this is that I'm ALWAYS tired. But if I'm cycling between "moderately tired" and "literally unable to stay awake" then that kinda keeps the whole process to a manageable schedule.
Then again, sometimes I screw it up, sleep for a bit too long... and next evening I'm lying in bed for hours staring into the dark corners of the room and muttering a madness mantra to myself.
go get prescribed medication it’s so much easier than i ever thought it would be. i’ve had insomnia since i was 16 and im 31 now so 15 years of shitty sleep. about two weeks ago i finally got a prescription for trazodone 100mg. my insomnia is gone!
from what i am told by the doctor, trazodone is used just for that. you use it to set yourself up a balanced circadian rhythm. have your body become used to a normal sleep schedule and the feeling of having a good nights sleep everyday will help alleviate any stress or anxiety you may be experiencing because you’ll have energy to accomplish everything you need to do during the day. also it’s non addictive so you won’t crave it and you withdrawal from it when you stop taking it. also you can just take it when you have trouble like you have had the past three days, don’t have to take it every night
Exercise until you’re worn out. Eat something a bit heavy. And Drink some coconut water afterwards to relax you. You’ll sleep like a baby.
Coconut water and sit in a freezing room (blast the a/c) until you fall asleep. Maybe try aromatherapy candles too
Okay 🙏 I slightly understand your pain though. I was woken up 2 hours before my alarm went off this morning. Tried my best to go back to sleep and squeezed my eyes shut. But i just couldnt sleep
Nope. Im at work rn off of 4 hours of sleep. Water and ice cold green tea are helping me stay awake but im not tired. Prob crash tonight though
lol what?
There are a lot of guided meditation videos online that work for me. You just have to get some headphones remove yourself from distractions like clocks that you can see and commit to no letting your mind wander away from the videos
I lie in bed and try to think of things that relax me. Sometimes I start to doze off just before I am supposed to get up
I’m not kidding. Masturbate. Your orgasm will make you go to sleep easier 👍🙂
Try having sex, that shud be enough, after several orgasms, to help you sleep.
Eat something sugary, put the phone away, and find a dark quiet place to just relax.
Try reading or drinking a cup of chamomile tea.
You're welcome and good luck.
Waste time on GAG like I’m doing right now. I’m insomniac too.
Read a USAF Technical Order manual. The question isn't will you go to sleep it is will you be dreaming in binary.
Listen to some random horror stories lol
That’s what I do too! Either horror stories or a podcast called, “Trace Evidence”. It’s about people that disappear under strange circumstances.
It’s really good!, if you like real life mysteries. The guy has a pleasant voice too! 😍😜
Read stuff or listen to Qur'an recitation.
You're welcome
Try alcohol, just enough to get you asleep
read a book
