Why do some people slam weights in the gym?
For people that aren't in competitions, it's totally unnecessary. Some people who do that aren't getting the most out of their workouts. Using common sense lol you don't let gravity win per rep. Slamming the weights is only half the workout. Going down slowly or retrieving it back slowly gives a full workout. Competitions where they're timed or power lifters is different. Getting the rep up counts then they drop the weights and move on.

I try my best to ignore it when someone is slamming the weights in a machine at my gym every rep. Sometimes the gym owner jumps out there and scolds the person for it. Basically tells them if you break my machine, you'll pay me money to repair it.

The only workout I can think of that is maybe ok to bang the weights is a deadlift. But even then, you can slowly set it down and get the most out of your workout.

I've been working out and eating healthy for over 12 years and have always been able to workout quietly. I don't stupidly do too much weight to handle or slam the weights to get everyone's attention to boost their huge ego.
