Can so Doctor's be really stupid?

My son need a medication for medical reasons. So I get get a phone called from the pharmacist explaining to me that the doctor made the medication order to a pharmacy that wasn't authorized it can only be authorized at a pharmacy from a hospital , The pharmacist tells she try to get ahold of the clinic staff and doctor but they ignore her calls. I called the clinic long story short I was able to get ahold of the doctor and he tells me to pick up off the shelf from a GNC. What hell I'm confused I'm switching my son's doctors. I don't consider myself a smart person but Jesus I tough a doctor would know common sense what medication is allowed and which one isn't. Can doctors be stupid?

I used to be a medical representative , and let me tell you YES , there are a literal plethora of STUPID doctors , I dont know how they complete the degree , when I first started I assumed they would all be super smart , NO not the case , some absolute fools , some would ask me to test their diagnosis , they say " dont look up online " because thats what they do..
In USA even worse , as they make spivs for scripting drugs , idiots some. Some utterly brilliant I must add , shop around , go with your feeling , make sure they take the time.

I bet you seen it all and the idiot doctor would ask you how to do. A medical procedure. I had to get nasty Karen mode with this idiot. He said it's not an emergency or big deal I'm like Sir we are talking about my sons health condition and he wasn't communicating with my son's pediatrician. Yeah even a 16 year old in highschool was able to figure that out about the authorization medication.

i think this isn't really the doctors fault. it's bureaucratic bullshit you do learn this in medical school but it's far from being your main focus. also: people who work in pharmacies aren't typically doctors.
