Are you kidding me?
If working out is boring - your routine is pretty much mediocre. Change it.
Turn your stereo to the max and listen to some HEAVY METAL/ROCK while you workout, it will get your blood pumping and will put you in the zone. Here are some bands : Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, DIO, Metallica, Manowar, Motörhead, Slayer, Black Sabbath, AC/DC etc.
Keep a journal of your PRs for exercises, so in the next workout, your mindset will always be to beat your current PR for the selected exercises on that day.
Keep your workout short, simple and make sure you do compound lifts. Quality over quantity. Be mindful about your reps and the timing, increase your time under tension.
These adjustments will make your workout more enjoyable and you will actually feel like you are doing something - be proactive while you do your workout.
Stop treating your workout like a chore and more like a blessing. Look forward to breaking your PRs, and you won't have workout boredom.

anything i can with my phone. if im doing something with a lot of movement (like running) then mostly audio book (currently harry potter) and youtube videos that i don't need to see (mostly LTT or FactFiend) since i not only need not to get bored but to keep my mind off the exercise in order not to get into my own head and let my self do less. once im on auto mode i can achieve much better results.
if im in a stationary workout like pushups or crunches then i put something i can watch, like game replays, infographics, sometimes even movies or netflix.
if i do shadow boxing then nothing, since i need to concentrate on the technique and to not do the same pattern again and again but instead mix things up in order to polish all my skills and not got tied down to a single way of fighting (keep being dynamic and less predictable)10 Reply

+1 yOk so if my workout is going for a walk, I prefer having nothing to distract since I'm usually focusing on my route. If I'm working out at home, I try to find something interesting but basic on TV. At gym I usually have headphones.

Thanks for the reply. Makes sense at home finding something on TV. I just do yoga at home and often staring in the wrong direction to watch.
+1 ymusic for sure! but I also do enjoy exercising once I get to it, it becomes like a competition between me and me, so I just push through cause I’m stubborn lmao

+1 yI train mostly at a very high intensity which prevents boredom. Workouts are short but intense. They have a lot of unpleasant characteristics like exhausting and challenging but boredom never comes into the equation.
If I'm doing lower-intensity cardio types of motions that can get a bit monotonous, I don't use equipment like treadmills or ellipticals. I would definitely get bored doing those and feel like a hamster on a wheel. Instead, I do things like a hike up a mountain or ride a bicycle. That gives me a destination like the top of a mountain. I also still tend to make it at least medium-intensity.10 Reply
+1 yFor me, it’s headphones on and out for a run, I will however if with someone tend to chat as we run for certain bits,
off out soon for a run with the girls and will be usual talking going on.
if I do the gym I tend to put headphones on and just focus.
mountain biking varies but usually focus and not much chatting12 Reply- +1 y
Same. Music for me unless walking with a friend.

@PrettyPriya even then I do tend to zone them out,
+1 yI listen to podcasts, and actually put one of my phones on record in case I brainstorm and come up with a really good idea while I'm working out. Also the video allows me to review my form on my sit ups, push ups and chin ups after my routine, as I go put on clothes after my workout.

That is a good one! I'll have to remember podcasts. Thanks for the reply.
+1 yOther than listening to music, listening to a podcast works too

I’m going to try the podcasts! Popular suggestion here. Thanks!

I'm with you on the music. That is my go to.
+1 yAudiobooks are awesome if I’m exercising inside, if I’m outside I don’t need to have the extra stimulation since I’m actually enjoying the scenery and truly “moving/transporting” my body to a location. Stationary is just painful 🤣

+1 yI don’t workout like ever but if I did I would need peace and quiet, no distractions. Can’t do anything about outside noise can’t control it. Wherever there is the least amount of noise in a gym is where I’ll be
10 ReplyI cannot have a good workout without music. The faster the beat, the harder I work out.
11 Reply- +1 y
Same here. I'm music all the way. Very occasionally I will go walk with a friend. Hardly what I consider a workout but we talk. Only thing I do with no music. Thanks for the reply.
+1 yMusic here, since my work out is often dancing... pole dancing, need the beat for the moves.

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yI listen to music. Also, if I am feeling especially courageous and I see a woman who looks approachable at the gym and is more fit than me, I'll ask her to teach me her favorite exercises and try to strike a conversation if it feels right to do so.
