Nope. These products are not free to make, nor are they essential of a woman to have, since women went thousands of years without them.
It's annoying to see the massive entitlement of modern women to where they want men to literally wipe women's asses for them, and will blame "patriarchy" if men don't. (Not directed to OP, but any woman who thinks she should just get sh*t for free, cause vagina.)
Women have reusable washable pads for mensuration and other similar products. If they don't want to use those, then they should get a better job and stop complaining.
I swear, this is such a First World woman thing. You NEVER hear men complaining about soap, toilet paper, and deodorant costing too much. There are actual women in Africa who don't have proper sanitary products, yet upper middle class First World women want to whine that not getting free sh*t, literally like they used to as children, is "patriarchy." (And again, this isn't necessarily directed to OP.)
There should be an end globally to Period Poverty.
https://periodpoverty.uk
https://www.bustle.com/wellness/the-uk-supermarkets-stores-offering-free-period-products
various ways can be tried, not one size fits all.
Things such as menstrual cups to women
For example. https://www.organicup.com/produto/menstrual-cup/
there is a schools and colleges scheme to make products free in the UK, however not all schools are signed up to it.
@joygirl they do need to be free for those at school and also those in poverty.
There should be zero reason that girls should be using rags shoved in their knickers / panties in 2022.
In some families the very last thing on the list of things to buy are period products for daughters.
It was when I worked at a counselling centre a really big reason for depression and counselling.
Yes, they should. I have answered similar questions before. My logic has always been and will remain that the cost of potential medical care due to not having basic feminine products costs far more than providing the products themselves.
There can be extremely bad and complex medical issues that can land someone in the hospital from not using sanitary products. Now, what does that medical bill cost? Does anyone think that a person who can't afford tampons can afford a massive medical bill?
Nope, they can't. So, to the people against handing out free products, just remember that the government picks up those medical bills. Guess what? So do you through taxation.
Yeap or cheap
What’s wrong with No with a wire brush and dettol?

Sure.
I think most health related things should be as it prevents price gouging and other morally wrong practices.
A simple example is comparing the price of a bottle of insulin in Europe and more welfare oriented countries to say, USA. Which neatly adds up to about 100$ per bottle in the U. S and 10$ per bottle in the worst of Europe. Many places costing as little as 3-5$ a bottle.
That extra 95$ is only added on because people need it and so they will pay for it.
Now of course the actual tax for a feminine products becoming free can be done in a variety of ways. It could only be on the potential end-users even. It would still significantly cut prices.
Where I live, these products are no longer taxed. I don't know how universal that is. It seems like we're moving in the direction of recognizing the necessity.
Virtually every public restroom, including those used by patrons of businesses, provide free TP. Is the cost prohibitive to provide women's sanitary products? Are they expensive enough that they would be stolen for home use? Are they available in no/some/many restrooms? Would there have to be a large array of products -- mini/maxi heavy/light big/small?
Personally, if it were my business, I would explore providing the products. It seems like the goodwill would be repaid.
Honestly no, not because its a needed thing but simply because how are the companies who make these things gonna get paid. Making them free would mean that the government would pay for it, you do realize the governments ( sense i am from America I shall use it as an example ), that they will never raise the minimal wage in order to for people to live. Of course I understand periods and such, but at the end of the day till the government starts raising the minimal wage, theirs no way anything should be free
It's been shown that without minimum wage more people are employed & everybody needs to start one of those low end jobs earlier in life. With minimum wage you have fewer job opportunities for young people & more of them turn to crime or become lazy and think mommy & daddy will pay for everything.
Sure but then there's the argument all products diabetics, cancer patients, etc. All need to live to be free. Not that it's bad but you open up a Pandora's box with it.
Personally I think male or female, everyone should get a tax return for the average cost of essential products in one's state such as toiletries, normal medicines, etc. Which would include feminine care products.
Remember too though that modern women's products are expensive. Women of old had cloth rags they'd use for menstruation which were washable and reusable and thus cheap. One could easily argue modern pads and tampons are too expensive to do the same job.
Of course, I'd love that... but I don't think anyone is going to manufacture them without getting paid, they got bills to pay and stuff.
I suppose if a bunch of us who want them to be free are willing to go volunteer time every so often, sort of like go make the stuff in the factories without getting paid then we get to take home some free stuff, each time we do that.
@MCheetah thanks
I really believe so. But I don’t think we need a major supply of all different varieties, for women to choose from. Perhaps just the most economical option, and limit the number per person.
Any more desired or comfortable options, the woman can go out separately to purchase herself.
Tax-free for sure (taxation is theft) but not totally free. The manufacturer still has to operate and pay the workers. But I think all "hygene" products and basic clothes should be tax-free. The government should not ever get the chance to profiteer off its citizens basic needs.
just like liberal dumb asses on here (breaking bad) , nothing is free. Insurance companies will raise prems , so theses liberal dumb asses will pay for it. Anything the Gov't "gives" you will increase inflation. Then sissy boys like him will be crying about that.
I would not give them for free. Because people need to pay to respect it. To have and know its value.
I would use the subsidies for it. Of course, the government is helping in such causes, hence, lets take the advantage of it.
Looks like they are going to be supplied "free" to girls AND boys in Oregon. I think the bill is called "Menstrual Equality" if I'm not mistaken. $400 per vending machine, per bathroom, courtesy of the tax payers. 🙄
Yes, they should be free for females to use or make the Heath Insurances cover them
@joygirl Sorry for the buttwipes that come on your questions
@joygirl 👍
@goodguybreakingbad That's a good idea. Health insurance should cover them. I also think healthcare should be free. There are a lot of people on this site who are assholes. Just look at the question that was asked about student loans being forgiven. The comments on there are outrageous.
@Cherry234 Yes, I agree with you. I think these people on here
talk through their asses and are trolls. Thanks for the mention :)
No.. Why should you be entitled to the fruits of one's labor for free. That is the definition of slavery.
I do not on the other hand believe they should be taxed the wau they are in certain EU countries. They are taxed as luxury items over there.
No. In fact we should charge women a lot more to make up for the fact that most welfare given to women comes from taxes paid by men.
It takes a factory and workers to make them. They have to make money to pay for the materials and labor. So they cannot be free. So the answer to your question is obviously NO.
No. Why should they be free? because vagina? The entitlement of some women, is actually crazy, lol. Of course women can't control having periods, but we all have other bodily issues that need tending to, and that doesn’t mean the solutions to those issues are free.
No. That is sexism. Make tampons free, then make shaving cream also free. If you are so stingy, use an old sock as a tampon or a pad. That is what they did in ancient Rome.
Hygiene products (male, female, trans, whatever) should be not be taxed though.
No, they cost money to produce. If you want government to subsidize them you're going to end up with the worst quality versions.
I think everything shouldn't be free but feminine products are one of the exceptions.
At least tax free and IF you are on some kind of public assistance then absolutely should be given to them.
and everyone will pay higher prems and higher deductibles
They should be cheap. I won't say it should be free because those company close. They need some money to keep up the mood and function properly.
Whilst I fully agree in making them "free", we will still be paying for them through taxation, which no doubt would have to raise to pay for them.
No more than toilet paper or toothpaste. Remember that people don't like not getting paid for working.
before they sold the manufactured version, they were "home-made"... for many thousands of years... so if you cannot afford them, make them... thats how it's done in 3rd world countries. I want free stuff too...
No. How can they be free? Some where some how some one has to pay for them. It may as well be the people who use them.
I think there should be a brand , that is free from the chemist,(pharmacy)
0
That would remove any incentive for them to be produced, meaning that they'll pretty much run out immediately.
You realize there is no such thing as “free” right?
No, not unless condoms should be free for guys everywhere. And neither of these will ever happen.
@joygirl
why dont you all use mooncups they are much better for environment
doesn't a tampon hold the blood in your vagina anyway but in a horrid and dried up state?
@joygirl
what do you use then free bleeding?
@joygirl
doesn't it still feel weird having the blood dried up and held against your vulva? do u have to clean your vulva when you change pads?
And toilet paper too.
And clothing.
And food.
And...
i'd support all essential toiletries being free including feminine products toilet paper, toothpaste, soap.. you know the essentials
This topic pisses me off. It should all be free. Women don't decide their gender being born. We should never charge them for something that is natural
Then I guess you support slavery.
@Mark987 you're right about you don't pick your gender. But you don't pick if you're retarded. You don't pick if you are missing a limb at birth. You don't pick your parents. You don't pick your sexual preference.
But guess what? It's predetermined and we gotta live with it. The majority of people are dealt a losing hand. But we can't complain about it. It is what makes us who we are. Expensive differ for everyone but it's our expenses. It's nobody's responsibility to buy any of my everyday needs. It's nobody's responsibility to pay for my kids needs.
I just explained that you really have 2 options and it's completely up to the person. Either pay or what you need and live substantially cleaner or don't. It's not life or death. It's be sanitary and buy what you need or don't and spend more than what you would on those products on laundry expenses and new clothes more often.
It costs money and labor to make those. Just like food, is a necessity but you pay for it. Unless you farm for your own. Just like those products, if you can't pay for it then make your own.
Let me offer you a counter question: should food be free?
My point being that food is required to live whereas feminine products help keep you clean but To My Knowledge are technically not vital to life.
I do admit that they are unreasonably pricey though.
I don't know how you feel about reusable but that's coming up a lot now that you've got me curious enough to try looking up diy solutions.
Restaurants, offices and bars should keep a variety available but a take one or 2 only.
Don't know how to control that.
Free is not a real thing for a manufactured product. Someone somewhere pays. Now if you used cattail tops from the loca marsh; it would truly be free.
Lol that’s called a promo
Or a rebate or coupon. But like you described, it ain’t free
Pads and tampons, definitely, because the politicians need some stuffed in their mouths to quiet them; starting with Mr. Putin.
why should it be free? Who will produce for free? Do you give away something you produce for free? If it is a necessity, why are food products not free?
No. People need to be paid for making those products somehow and even if you don't have to pay put of pocket, it'll come out of your paycheck.
No. This is why I believe women voting is particularly problematic because they will socialize the entire world if given the opportunity.
If someone had to make them to give them away for free, what quility do you think they would actually be?
No (cause someone has to make them), they should at least be cheaper than what they are rn
No. Its just a normal product. Doing that doesn't make any sense
lol, nothing's free. Can't even get air in your tire for free.
nothings free. the people who make them demand to be paid. Should food be free?
Cost of logistics? Production? Materials? Disposal/Recycling?
Of course not, why should they be free? Female victim mentality?
That along with many other things.
Why? We pay so why shouldn't they?
I don't want other people paying for my things.
Not free.. should be cheap.
They would piss a lot of men making money off.
yeah. cheaper would be good too
Nah. It’s manufactured, there is a cost to make it
Why not toilet paper?
Why wouldn't they be?
And free food too because it's necessary too!
free hookers, free house, free pot, free game systems, free food, free clothes, and free beer. Mean while no one has a job since everything is free and only people willing to work for free will have a job. Also means no tax dollars or sales tax , so gov't has to print money out of thin air, which means 100% of debts must be bought by other countries. See how long we last and how long before a total collapse.
Cheaper yes i think they take advantage of us
Meanwhile deodorant is damn near 10 whole dollars
wtf really?
@HeartFullOfGlue Yeah, it’s like $7.79
Fuck man
@HeartFullOfGlue or at Walmart at least.
Well Walmart kinda sucks in general (or at least around here)
@HeartFullOfGlue But the yum yum egg roll
Egg rolls are tasty
@HeartFullOfGlue yes, they are.
I could eat 20 of em all in a row
@HeartFullOfGlue is it possible to bust a nut 10 times in a row?
Yeah, some guy on reddit said he did it 11 times in a row (a reddit guy said it so it must be true)
@HeartFullOfGlue Wow, I thought my friend was trolling or something. We all like to troll each other a lot.
can relate
@HeartFullOfGlue ever been pissed on?
No, why have you?
@HeartFullOfGlue No, but I’ve learned that clowns always get pissed on by the kids they visit for birthdays
yeah cause they scary
