I recently saw this question. I know most people on this website don’t live in Scotland

Scotland made Menstrual Products free! Do you think this will be a pioneer for other countries? ↗

No, except to those who truly can't afford it. Menstrual products should be available AS NEEDED without cost to school girls (for example, a girl doesn't plan or comes up short a pad or tampon during the day and can get one or two from the school nurse or office) but after that no. As @Dargil explained, nothing is really free.

Every woman knows that with the onset of her first period, for the next 40 years or so it's going to be a monthly occurrence unless interrupted by pregnancy, some forms of birth control, or a hysterectomy, etc.

I know some complain about the cost, but let's not act like we're inserting a $20 roll of quarters with every tampon or pad change. Buy the things in bulk at Costco, Sam's Club, etc., they're cheaper that way. They have roughly five-year shelf life, and it's not like you won't use them.

Some people aren't getting the budget concept of putting needs before nice-to-haves. Don't spend $500 at a tattoo parlor getting inked then whine to me about period poverty.

Can you imagine how many tampons a girl uses in a year? Multiply that by the number of women and it can be a tidy sum. In that case you may as well pay for shaving supplies, shampoo, bandaids, contraceptives, and toilet paper.

They aren't free, this is the problem with social media and bullshit media : a lie goes around the world, before the truth gets it's boots on.

NO ONE said they were "free" - just as your workplace doesn't tell you they provide "free toilet paper" do they? It's a given that if there is a toilet, there should be a roll of TP or a bidet there as well.

Also, every female toilet has a bin for menstrual products anyway, its a female bodily function. Maybe it's the trans females and immature males who are at the root of this problem, as both have a problem with periods.

    Absolutely NOT!

Those are personal hygiene products that an individual is responsible for, not the whole of society. Since when is it "my" responsibility to pay for products needed for a woman's menstrual cycles.

Liberals and their idiot logic... people who think like that need good swift kick in their rears - just to get their attention! They take ZERO personal responsibility for ANYTHING, while blaming everything under the sun for THEIR problems and behavior. Stupidity on display!

Nothing is free. Someone has to manufacture and distribute it, which bears cost.
*Either the buyer pays for it...
*It gets stolen by an individual and the vendor pays for it...
*The government acquires it it through legislation and taxpayers) pay for it.

So the question is: Should I pay for your menstrual products? How about your gasoline? How about your food and clothing?

I believe everyone should be required to pass courses in economics and civics as a condition of high school graduation.

Not free. Where would that end? The other poster who said toilet paper used a good example. BUT there definitely shouldn't be a tax on them and there probably should be regulations on pricing and store mark up, etc.

No. Our country is already poor. I live in third world country I dont want it to be in massive debt to fund the production of free menstrual products. Plus people will pay more taxes, better to use those taxes for improvement of other things like education and healthcare

Someone should really give these spineless mouth breathing government bureaucrats a dictionary and show them the definition of the word free. And, no, taxpayers shouldn't be forced at gunpoint to pay for your personal shit.

Nothing is free, because the state doesn't have any money. In order to give you something it has to either rise taxes, or take this money from someone else.

What company will make them and give them away and loose money? They won’t stay in business if they do.

so if the government buys them and gives them away so companies stay in business, then how good do you think they will be?

No if it's free it means someone else is paying for it. Why is it so hard to understand that?

No, I don't think they should be free. Strong, independent wamen who don't need no man also means my tax dollars.

Anything that requires the labor and/or resources of another is not free.
