Not really. There is plenty of laboratory tests to confirm this and they pretty unanimously find that men exhibit a much higher pain threshold and a moderately higher pain tolerance. That really should be what weighs heaviest. In controlled environments women seem to have a lower tolerance for pain.

I reckon this misconception has many roots. One being that men acting out because of pain garners more attention. There is the ever prevalent childbirth argument but while I am happy to not have to go through it women reportedly only approach, but do not exceed normal male pain tolerance during this event. Still though, glad you guys got the short end there and not us.

Regardless of how we want to view it an interesting find we can most agree with is that women and men handle pain differently and are receptive to different types of pain. There is also some recent, although not particularly convincing findings yet but certainly noteworthy, stating that women are better at forgetting pain. Which makes a lot of sense rationally and can certainly be an advantage.

And lastly, women seem to be more fine tuned in distinguishing pain. As such that can cause some issues in a laboratory test. Where your average woman might be able to tell that the heat intensity increased by 25% and consequently report a higher number,
your average man might simply still find it rather uncomfortable and so not alter perception or reported values. That of course can be partially responsible for the one-sided lab results. But ultimately they are quite singular in their findings.

No. I can't compare childbirth but let's compare every single thing we have in common like punching each other in the arm to the point of dislocated shoulders:

The loser gives up and cries for mercy. I never lose. My shoulder gets dislocated and I take punch after punch still.

And things like hunger and thirst. Let's go 24 hours without drinking anything, or 4 weeks without eating anything. It is rare I find formidable opponents in women. When I do though, they are badass women. But that is rarer in my experience than men.

I guess it depends more on the person, and because physically men and women are different, it depends on what kind of pain is being inflicted upon them. Women suffer terribly giving birth, some more than others, but I've kicked many guys in the balls too and they go down in absolute agony with that! I think for the same kind of injury or pain, it might be quite even and then it is dependant more on the person rather than anything else. I do think guys complain more though, and that girls endure pain better, whether or not it actually hurts more.

And also guys tend to complain way more and are less good at fighting pain, while girl tend to keep the pain on their own

It has been proven many times that woman have a higher threshold of pain then men.

Go into a tattoo parlor and the artists will tell you of college football players who broke down while young women remained stoic.

As far as pain is concerned, childbirth separates the women from the boys. I doubt that there is a man who could stand delivering a baby.

Pain is a lot like different people tasting the same hot sauce. Not everyone is going to have the same reaction. One person might have a more intense reaction to it then everyone at the same table. Then you can have another person at the same table who has no reaction to it at all.

When it comes to emotional I'd say so.

However, in my experience of combat sports and such women do not handle sharp, physical pains nor burning sensation pains as easy. Seen some girls in wrestling get slammed and taken out crying despite it being the kind many guys in practice would get.

Apparently my pain tolerance is pretty high because on a 0-12 scale I generally rate my pain -2 of someone else experiencing the same thing. The only things that I ever ranked 12, were where the pain prevented me from movement. If I could move it wasn't 12, and most people are at 12 when it's below that. Plus I was recovering from a pain that (according to female nurses) is twice as painful as giving birth. That was 12, because I couldn't move due to the pain.

In some degrees yes, while in others no. Period pains weren't meant for men so theirfore are body isn't meant to withstand such a shock the private areas. So yes in that regard women are stronger. However overall pain men usually are the victor

For extreme pain yeah, but I've seen many men shake off something like stubbing a toe whereas I've seen very few women shrug that off. I guess it depends on what you stand to gain from the pain.
