I have tinnitus. I'm 61 years old. I think it is common at my age. When I first started noticing it several years ago it bothered the Hell out of me. But eventually I learned to ignore it. It rarely bothers me now.
Same with "floaters" (those loose strands in your eye fluid that float around and can be seen) They used to annoy me but I barely notice them these days. Actually, I think floaters aren't an age thing - I've had mine for as long as I can remember. I've even got names for them (Moe, Larry, Curly, Lance, Darwin and Festus) LOL!
I had an ear infection when I was a few years old and it caused a ruptured eardrum. Afterwards my ear would randomly ring sometimes and I couldn’t hear through it while it rang, sometimes it was very loud and hurt my head but it never lasted too long. The weird thing though was I would usually get my ear ringing in the same places, such as a specific intersection on the drive home from school.
Now it rarely rings but sadly I can never go scuba diving haha. Plus the pressure of water at the bottom of a 5 foot deep pool hurts my head a little and oh man jumping off tall diving boards my head feels like it’s about to explode so I swim to the surface as fast as I can.
I did ote because I know I get tinnitus. I tned to get wax build up quite easily. I have some ear eczema as well so my ears itch a bit. Probably doesn't help with pushing more wax on my ears.
I've had tinnitus for years. It's not just a high pitched sound, it changes randomly. Sometimes the pitch changes, other times it a buzzing sound or a ringing sound or like white noise. The intensity (volume) changes, too. Occasionally, it wakes me up at night. Although I wore ear protection, the loud noise from various items of equipment caused my tinnitus.
I have diagnosis of tinnitus and partial hearing loss in my right ear mostly caused by using rifles with inadequate hearing protection, but it is exacerbated by my having to use Codeine/Acetaminophen (Paracetamol) to blunt pain in my hips, knees, and lower back due to osteoarthritis.
Lot's of cases of tinnitus are unknown. I get it every now and then with no apparent cause, but I known loud noises to trigger it for sure. I shot in an indoor range with headphones I didn't know were defective. Ears rung horrible.
I have it in my left ear all the time. I have learned to tune it out. It is probably from using power equipment without hearing protection for most of my life.
I have a constant ringing that’s not too noticeable, but every once in a while the ringing gets to be SO loud that I can’t hear anything but the ringing.
Yes, I have tinnitus myself. I dont want like sleeping in a quiet enviroment at night because the ringing never stops. I like to have an air filter on at night to sleep better.
