Is it possible to request keeping my current eye prescription when I get my new frames 🤓?

So, I went to the eye doctor, and my prescription hardly change. There is a slight change, but it is not much at all. I asked if I could keep the prescription I currently have, and he said yes.

When I get my frames, will they let me keep my current prescription like the doc said? 🤔
I don’t see the point in getting a prescription that makes no difference at all. I can still see very well with my current ones. 🤷🏾‍♀️

I've had opticians tell me they will use prescriptions up to two years old.

If the optician doesn't accept your old prescription, have your optometrist write a new prescription. In my experience most optometrists are willing to change your prescription if you ask them.

A difference in the prescription changes the distance of your focus. So if you ask for a prescription that is slightly less strong, it only means that the focal point is slightly closer (assuming you are near sighted). At your age your eyes are very capable of focusing at different distances, so a quarter or half diopter won't make much difference.

Most opticians- the ones who craft your new spectacles- will give you up to 6 months on a "current" vision Rx.

And you're right, the lower the prescription the better.

You can even use one 1.5 diopters weaker for close up computer work, and the one 1.5 stronger for driving and such. The closer you look the less focus you need, obviously.

If your local optometrists are pricks, you can get customized glasses online for 2-15$

When it comes to buying just remember you are the one with the cash & when it comes to a sale you can always go elsewhere. As for me I wanted a backup pair of glasses & my current prescription was still good however I couldn’t find the right pair where I bought my glasses so I went to another glasses store found frames I liked & told them I would like to buy this pair & need you to match my current prescription.

Of course you can do that... if there's only a minor change in your prescription. I do it all the time and my eye doctor is fine with that. I have the same lenses I had 4 years ago, because my eyes have only slightly changed.

The only limitation could be that new frames may have different shapes than your old frames, in which case your old lenses won't fit.

Don't see why not! My Optometrist gave me glasses to wear WITH my current lense implant, as I wear Mono Vision, (one to read and one to see distance) I change frames and keep the prescription.

Some will say no and some will say yes. To keep it easier. Have the eye doctor write your prescription down

They can duplicate your current lens but why would you. Just take the new script and have it made to the lens of your choice.
