It's not okay. Just in the same way you could point out things in their life they feel insecure about and then tell how to solve it through an order. Like
"You are killing yourself by drinking, stop buying beer."
"You look like an clown, cut your hair"
"Your teeth are all crooked, see your dentist"
"You have a really bad temper, fix your attitude"
See, anyone would be annoyed. The worst part is that it takes the control out of your hands. They think they actually helped by telling you what to do, when in actuality it makes you resent them and do the opposite, like a teenager's "rebellious phase."
When you can get a positive outcome made by your own ability and decision, then that feeling is reinforced and it becomes easier to create a good habit and sense of autonomy.

It's not polite of them to say that. But if you stay chubby and you don't do anything about it, then eventually you will become fat. So, they are giving you good advice.
It's rude, but probably done from a place of love.
