My daughter is on anxiety medication and her Birth control has made it worse. Anyone else?

She also has depression and Social anxiety disorder. Her mood swings are now out of control.

Ok. So, I have not had any issues on my current birth control method. I use the ring. It is a small rubber ring that is vaginally inserted. It is changed once a month. While I do have some mild side effects, mood changes is not one of them.

Just to preface this a bit, I work in healthcare. I have seen girls suffer these issues before. The best thing is go to her gynecologist and ask them for a different birth control option. Sometimes it takes trying different types to find one that works the best.

I remember when I was younger, birth control was a must do to my periods being quite bad. I went through a number of different types before finding one that really worked well.

I have tried the pill and that had the worst side effects for me personally. While it helped with my period issues, I was much more moody. The ring, for whatever reason, is the perfect option for me. Plus, I don’t have to remember taking the pill. Hope this helps.

I simply felt so ill when I started on the pill over 10 years ago. I gave up after a few months. Then I tried an implant. No problems at all. One big side effect. Not had a period in about 8 years.

I guess different people need different methods. One size does not fit all.

I struggled with mood swings the first year. But yes birth control is commonly linked to increased depression and suicide occurrence, especially in teenage girls.

Yes. Depression, mood swings, acne, chronic cramps, low blood pressure, fainting, weight gain. The lot. I've not used birth control for years and never will again.
