Has anyone on here had knock out gas at the dentist?

Are you talking about NO2, nitrous oxide? It helps me a lot. They put a cone on a nose and feed NO2 and oxygen into it. So you have the ability to breath as deeply through your nose as you choose.

It doesn't numb pain, but it lets your mind float. If you breath too deeply, you float out of consciousness.

Once they turn off the gas, you return to normal very quickly and there are no ill effects. I find it very pleasant.

When I was in my late 20s, I started going to a dentist who gave you nitrous whenever he worked on your mouth. He had tons of albums on cassette tape (before CDs). I could select Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Jimi Hendrix or whatever. So, you'd listen to music on headphones while floating, half conscious, on nitrous. And you didn't care how long he took.

You are out withing seconds and you wake up feeling like you are too drunk. After you sleep you are fine.

I don’t think I’ve had it but I never asked for it, our dentist is very economical, he only gives you the pain killers necessary for the treatment to lower the cost. Some do extra to protect against unexpected pain but my dentist does not do that.
