Usually if you speak with a doctor about diet the advice is kind of like, stay to the perimeter of the store as much as possible. All the fresh things live there. Try to stay away from the boxes and cans and processed thises and thats because of all the chemicals added, sodium and heavy doses of sugars under different names that may all be in the ingredient list to hide how much "sugar" is actually in it. They also warn that high fructose corn syrup is of particular concern, and there's a LOT of that around.
Seems to me just on general observation that you don't really see people out and being active as in times past... but that may or may no t be true... so
Yep it typically comes down to boosting meals with cheap calories. Food processors love to load food with sugar and especially high-fructose corn syrup herein America. So all sorts of ready made meals in stores, boxed and canned foods, and restaurant provisions are loaded with the stuff.
@pers0n That's the truth... About 2 months ago I poured a glass of Florida Natural OJ with pulp... My first gulp I swallowed a 1 inch flexible triangle of some sort of clear thermoplastic. I was able to stop it in my through and bring it back up and spit it out. Almost choked me. Blended right in with the pulp...
Highly processed foods and lack of physical movement are major contributors. Refined sugars, foods high in salt as well as a general underappreciation for proper hydration are all major contributors to obesity.
@pers0n the whole thing about salt was started way back in the 70s with the food pyramid where we were being told that certain foods were bad for us with no scientific research. Now they tell us eggs are actually good for us
Sugar is definitely evil and overused. It's added to almost everything, including your barbeque sauce.

Sugar and fat, absolutely. Most beverages in the United States taste horrible for Europeans because of the amount of sugar in it. And it’s not even real sugar, it’s that garbage HFCS.
Many food companies in Europe have alternative versions of their products, with sugar reduced by 10-30%. Also we are discussing a prohibition of the marketing of unhealthy food to children. We don’t want to end up like the States!
Sugar is definetely responsible for obesity.
At least the amounts of sugar the avarage person, espacially in the US and Mexico, eats or drinks on a daily basis.
I have heard this too. That sugar is more addictive than cocaine and the reason people are fat. It is a major contributor to poor health.
Like any food consumed in large amounts like junk food and such without healthy moderation and exercise would cause issues I feel.
But on its own nah it’s nice to add flavour to stuff with.
lol Not a Veganazi, but the modern diet with its highly processed crap along with a general lack of physical activity certainly are main contributing factors.
No, not the sugar specifically, it’s all the things sugar is in.
Sugar and vegetable oils and a sedentary work and life environment.
Also plastics causing endocrine disruption.
Sugar is part of the reason, but not the sole reason. You have other factors such as overly processed foods, eating too many calories all the while getting very little physical activity.
I disagree. What causes fat is inactivity COMBINED with over-eating of ANYTHING, NOT just sugar.
You can be as active as you want but if your diet is not right you will end up overweight
Couldn't prove it by me!! I ate a LOT of junk food and was skinny as a stick my first 40-some years until I got really depressed over the loss of a friend! I just didn't feel like doing much of anything for the next few years and went from 190 to 305 and gained another 60 beyond that! Between working hard, playing drums in a band, spending quite a few hours a day in the ppol, riding my bike about 3 dozen miles a week, fucking my girlfriend at least 3 times a week and doing LOTS of walking I stayed skinny! Around the t8ime I lost my friend, I also lost the use of the bike, my girlfriend, the band broke up, the pool got filled in and the jobs they gave me at work just had me standing in one place for hours, most of the time
Yes, sugar is responsible for obesity
I watched a documentary about sugar in America. It's supposedly very addictive and Americans eat 50% more now than they did in the 1970's, it's in so many foods
It's accessible, full of calories, and tastes really good, so it can't be too helpful.
Medication can cause obesity along with sugar and eating processed foods.
And ignorance and laziness
Sugar, high fructose corn syrup, etc. Yes
Laziness and overeating are to blame for obesity.
Over eating sugary products
Than and fats as well. No one got fat off overeating plain carrots.
No, lack of self control.
Sugar and processed foods. Not meat.
