How to help a cracked tooth you had a root canal on?

I had a root canal years ago and it was successful but I never was able to get a crown over it like the dentists always suggested. A few months ago I could tell it started chipping and one moment I felt a crack when I was eating. For the last 3 months I haven’t been eating on that side to prevent anymore damage or cause more stress to it. I plan on getting a crown around tax season when I can actually afford one but I want to know is there anything I can do to help it before I am able make it to the dentist?

Get a crown on that bish, naaao! I have crowns on mine and they have been fine as long I remember what happened to them to get that way. And I really don't think there's anything you can do permanently to fix it. Gonna require some dental attention to not break it more

I know I need a crown, if you actually read you’ll see that I said I don’t have $1,000 plus out of pocket for one so I’m waiting on tax season for the money. They need it all up front for a crown. I’ll go to the dentist soon

I skimmed it but still, a temporary fix is possible but if I were you, I adopted me a dog inside of me to get that $1,000. Tax season coming or nah, mate

Okay you said go to the dentist, but I have to pay up front just to go. They don’t have a sliding scale like some places. And then I’m trying to scrape up something for Christmas at the same time

What is it that you don’t get? I don’t have enough for ANY of it right now? The gifts nor going to the dentist at this very moment. After paying bills and more just for the beginning of this month and an emergency that came up last month I’m only left with 200 something in my account, if that.

Most places offer payment plans, especially in an emergency. Give me their number, I'll call for you and see if they do.

I’ll call around and see what places do, I don’t know for sure if the one I normally go for cleanings do though. The timing of everything is just so inconvenient but I don’t want anything worse to happen. Thank you for the suggestion

Your gonna have to get a new crown, and you can get a temporary one for now.
