HOW TO STOP TOOTH PAIN / PAIN IN JAW HELP?

I went to the dentist and have a lot of issues I wasn’t told what I have but I know I have bleeding gums so I bought a mouthwash medicine. I need wisdom teeth out & have jaw infection now. I have cavities too. I can’t get anything done until I pay $350 for a deep cleaning that’s urgent. Maybe til April I’ll have my insurance cover that I don't know. For now I have horribel toothache all night 10 hours. The dentist didn’t do anything as i said I have pain daily can’t sleep. I need be referred to jaw doctor that’s all she said. I have motrin will that stop pain? Pain is in teeth and jaw I feel swollen too & jaw bones hurt. The pain moves across the face. Help

You can try Orajel, or a cheaper brand of it. The instructions say not to use it before bed though, because it can numb your swallow reflexes or something like that. It loses it's effectiveness with age pretty quickly, so you want some that's fairly new.

I've used the hard core prescription stuff before, but I avoid doing that unless I really have to.

I don't know. But I know that antibiotics can take a few days to help with the pain.
Maybe contact the dentist by phone and get a prescription for pain. You might even ask a pharmacist if they have anything over-the-counter that's strong enough to help.

Worst part is I can’t get anything fixed til I pay $350 for deep teeth cleaning my teeth r bad need that done first. 🙁🙁🙁or wait 3 wks if my insurance covers it

Find a different dentist. Are there any dental schools near you that have super cheap dental work?

I also question those deep cleanings. They cost a fortune and I don't know if they even do anything.

Bottom line is that if you are in pain and have an infection, they should not make you wait for any reason. There are tons of ways to get around that. They aren't doing it because they aren't trying.

Do some research in your local area. Look for free or reduced dental care. Look for dentists who will work with you.

Did you even talk to your dentist or their staff about the finances?

Ibuprofen and Tylenol together is the best pain killer you can get short of a controlled medication like Norco or Percocet

Yes, a jaw infection will need antibiotics. You should call your dentist as soon as you can.

They're idiots for not giving you antibiotics, those are usually given as a preventative measure.
But as far as the pain meds, dentists are famous for having a "suck it up" attitude.

Most dentists will prescribe you both if you call back and complain

I would try to get a second opinion from a mother dentist and even try going to your primary care doctor. I would also try Tylenol in the mean time.

If you were told that you have a jaw infection, that' literally it. Taking drugs will not remedy your situation, but only momentarily "help" with the pain.
