For COVID or the FLU: What's your opinion on antivirals? What experience if any do you have with them? Do you believe antivirals work or do they not?

After testing positive for covid...

I was prescribed an antiviral called

PAXLOVID

To be very honest I was very hesitant to pop these in my mouth but I said to myself "well if I have a bacterial infection I wouldn't hesitate with an antibiotic"... Takes a gulp of water pops pills in mouth and swallows... "Well here goes nothing... Lets hope for the best!"

Later I stopped and wondered why didn't I read more on it or why didn't I at least ask others peoples experience or thoughts on it...

Im sitting here like hmmm 🤔🧐...

Honestly Its too soon to say whether they work or not what I do find odd is they give you 5 packs to take for 5 days and supposedly it's supposed to lessen your time with the virus but don't we only Quarantine for 5 days? Aren't they saying supposedly that it takes 5 days and then we're fine to be back amongst people... So how does the antiviral lessen the time of the virus?

Guess I'm a guinea pig for this stuff now.

All I can say after a couple hours taking them I suddenly have this nasty taste in my mouth whenever I eat something and I can't really say if that's the side effects of the pills or side effect of covid that just started 🤷.

An antiviral agent will act in one of five different ways to interrupt the viral replication cycle in order to inhibit the virus: 1 - attachment / penetration of the virus into the host cell 2 - uncoating of virus, removment of the protein surface and release of the viral DNA or RNA into the body 3 - synthesis of new viral components by the host cell as directed by the virus DNA, a product that does nothing in the body 4 - assembly of the components into new virus, and finally 5 - release of the virus from the host cell.

The cold virus given every year is almost totally ineffective because there are so many different versions of the viruses, they cannot give a worthwhile shot to code for the flu during the season.

The doctor of the Wuhan vaccine doesn’t think the injection is worth the negative effects. Yet, he was the one who invented the mRNA gene coding method.

I got both first rounds of the vaccine only because I had no choice needed it to travel but I think they shot a crap and they don't work there's plenty of evidence that they don't work.
But as far as these pills I've never heard of them and I've never taken it before I figured it wouldn't hurt to try it so I hope... Lol

I’ve heard Covid can mess with your taste and smell. I’ve got it right now, but it’s like 1 out of 10, I’ve had stronger colds than this. Just got my booster the other day, too, FML😂 Same thing happened when I got it right after Christmas last year from my aunt, I got my booster a couple days later but didn’t know I had it yet. It was a little worse last time around, but it was never too bad for me, I was fully vaxxed, just no booster yet. Anyway, I think antivirals are safe. How effective they are? I don’t know. But I figure there’s no harm in taking them, they might make it easier on you. Sorry to hear you’re having a rougher go of it, get well soon!

I don't think doctors should be able to prescribe antiviral drugs like cough bonbons because of serious side effect. Those viro-static agents were few years back allowed only to use under steady clinical observation.

Well from a professional perspective I’ve seen Tamuflu used a lot for influenza A&B and it seems to be effective. I can’t really say much about Paxaloid for Covid because I haven’t seen it prescribed for anyone yet.

For me I have always thought that the body could take it on what's that thing about bacteria soap that you wash your hands with you wash it so many times with bacteria soap it doesn't even work anymore it could be the same way with the flu shot or your anti- covid vaccines 2

I don't get the flu shot cause every time I did I got the flu. Same with others that get the flu shot, they say they don't get sick then they do. I haven't had the flu in about 4 years now. I won't get the covid vaccine cause covid has been around since 1953ish.

My mother in law got paxlovid last month. She definitely bounced back pretty quick. She also has a few medical conditions that usually make COVID worse, so I'd say it worked pretty well for her.

Im fairly healthy, but given the opportunity I'd go for it. I had COVID about a year ago and even though my symptoms weren't too serious, anything to make them better or go away quicker would be welcome.

Meds are only to expedite the recovery process nothing else in this matter if the symptoms are like cold.
But keep yourself hydrated and tak Multivitamins because you will feel weak after about 2 weeks.
