Can you get hangover symptoms 2 days after your last drink?

Drunk on nye. Last drink at 1am 1st January

Rest of the day on new years day I didn't feel too bad and was eating fine

2nd January I felt good just a bit tired and eating fine

The evening of 3rd January I had a sudden onset of severe diarrhea and vomiting

all the alcohol caused your body to dehydrate and your probably now going through withdrawals which is causing you to feel sick but try drinking Pedialyte or just sip it if nothing is still staying down and also take Dramamine which is an over the counter anti nausea

Yes, alcohol is about the most toxic thing you can give your body. It generates aldehydes which wreak havoc. Water, B vitamin supplement and exercise will rid your body of toxins more quickly. For longer term damages from alcohol there is a supplement called milk thistle that help the two organs most affected by alcohol, liver and kidneys. From a perspective of damage to your body you would be better off shooting heroin than drinking alcohol, seriously. There can be an emotional component. also especially in blackouts. Women's bodies are much more susceptible to health issues in re. alcohol, sorry. Its your body seeking homeostasis though one night of drinking shouldn't cause that much damage. For the reasons it probably attracted you, release of inhibitions, ability to socialize w/o anxiety. If you use a drug to allow you to relax (exogenous- from outside the body) If your body senses exogenous chemicals to relax you it ceases creating endogenous (created by your body not from outside help inside the body) to maintain homeostasis). Your body cannot crank up the production of neurotransmitters immediately. It takes time for your body to realize that no more outside chemcals are being provided. It's why drunks often use a "hair of the dog" it lessens the shock of the loss of alcohol and its sedative effects. The stomach stuff sounds like it could be a separate issue. I don't know where you were drinking but the cleanliness of glasses in bars isn't great. They rarely get sanitized. I bartended in college and most bars have a 3 sink cleaning set-up. One sink to wash the glasses that has soap (hopefully) and rinse sink then often s drying area. Restaurants run their glassware through a dishwasher which either reaches high enough temperature or has a chemical sanitizer. Bacteria are killed at ~165 degrees F. That means the glassware is both clean and sanitized. Glassware in bars rarely gets sanitized. You can usually feel the squeakiness of glasses that have been sanitized by heat/. Sounds like you picked up one of these nasty flu bugs that's been going around, the only thing the drinking did was lower your immunity defenses snd make it easier to catch the flu bug.
