Do you think women or men know more about the reproductive system of their own body?

If you compare the general knowledge about their respective reproductive system and reproductive anatomy do you think men or women know their own better?
I would say younger men have it easier to get a good grasp about it, but a lot of girls after puberty regularly go to gynecologists and in my experience they learn so much more with time.
I am not talking about girls knowing about men, or guys knowing about women.
Add on question: Do you think there is more to know about men or womens bodies?

This is really hard to answer because you are comparing apples with oranges. Women have a far more complex reproductive system that even scientists don't know much about because there has not been enough research. There are also lots of misconceptions, superstitions, and tales about women's bodies that are just outrageous. Thanks to many religions and cultures making women's bodies more 'sinful' and 'shameful', there are more barriers for women to break to be able to know their bodies properly.

There are more men who know the basics about their bodies than women, some women live their whole lives not knowing that their menstrual fluid and urine come out of different holes. They don't even look at their own bodies, explore or touch them because of the stigma around them. I have known women as old as their 20s and 30s telling me they are scared to look at themselves or touch themselves down there. I'll tell you about some conversations I've had:

First Example

Girl 1: How do girls masturbate?

Me: *answers how*

Girl 1: eww

Second example

Me: Oh wearing a menstrual cup is tricky at first but once you get the hang of it and understand your anatomy it is quite easy.

Girl 2: Omg, I can't even imagine touching myself down there how do you even insert the cup and get it in there?

I have more but you get the deal.

One thing women do become conscious of is breast cancer and ovarian cancer after they get older, primarily after menopause. Cancer awareness is one place where I find men to be lacking more, not only can men also get breast cancer although it is less common, but you can also actually do prostate massages that can help prevent prostate cancer, it is something I am also trying to learn more about myself right now but apparently, it works better when a partner does it for you. Hell yeah if I can help reduce the risk of cancer in my man I am doing it.

I agree there is a lot already known about the male reproductive system in comparison to how little we know about the female reproductive system and female anatomy in relation to it. It was only in the 1970s that people actually started mapping out parts of the woman's body and how the clitoris actually extends much farther out than just that little nub of nerves that bring so much pleasure. Our knowledge of the female reproductive system is severely lacking, which is leading to a lot of issues.

Think of how many conditions exist that specifically affect the female reproductive system that we have no cures or treatments for. At best, things like PCOS, endometriosis, and vaginismus are managed through birth control and kegel exercises, and these are not always the way to go. Not all medicines are the same, and the side effects can be just as bad if not worse than the original symptoms of the conditions themselves. We know about the male version because, anthropologically speaking, men have been obsessed with knowing how their dongs work since they realized it helped make people so they've been very focused on learning as much as they can about it. We still have a lot to learn about the female body and how it works and what it's capable of, we're still not sure what causes things like endometriosis or PCOS to happen in the first place. We need to know so we can find ways to treat it better, but we're just not there yet.

Considering the many women that don't know how rapidly their fertility decreases from 35 on, I'd say that the majority of women don't know much about it, but the ones that do try to have kids in their 30s + learn quite a bit from their doctor.

There isn't nearly as much to know about men's reproductive system though since it is less complicated and has less parts.

This is an interesting question. I would say the female reproductive system is more complex than the male. And my guess is that women know more about their repro system than guys do theirs. But on the other hand I see so many girls refer to their external genitalia as their "vagina" (instead of the proper term vulva) that it makes me wonder.

Both men and women should know more about the physiology of their respective sex: that would solve a lot of problems between people. Knowing more about the o there wouldn't hurt either.

It’s honestly hit or miss. I feel like women would know more about it than men. In sex Ed it’s typically the girls that ask the questions while boys ask more juvenile questions; which is to be expected given sex Ed is taught when kids are like 12 or 13 possibly younger. And by that age girls are beginning to go through puberty so they ask more questions although it’s more questions geared towards women.


I’m in school again and recently learned more about both male and female reproductive systems. Learned things I didn’t know and refreshed things I did. Learned how each system intertwines. I would hope each sex has a basic understanding of their own reproductive organs and how things work.

I think girls know way more than guys do since many guys only visit a doctor if there´s a really big problem.
While girls start to visit a doctor since the start of puberty for a certain time of their life every once in a while they are better informed about their body.

I think girls are taught more because there are so many changes in their body's. Especially when they have their menstrual cycle and ablity to get pregnant. But the older you get the more you get in touch with your body.

If we're only talking about their own bodies, guys know more, because the male reproductive system is very simple compared to that of a woman.
If we're talking about both male and female reproduction, most guys are clueless, and women understand it much better.

I aced both male and female anatomy in pathophysiology class. The women in the same course had to be "curved" otherwise they would have failed. Half of them were mothers and didn't even know their own basic reproductive anatomy.
