They inserted the copper coil yesterday and I haven’t had any cramps so far apart from very light bleeding. I’m wondering if this is normal/common the nurses told me several times I might experience cramping during the first 3 to 6 months but so far I haven’t experienced none of that. Is the cramping still going to start at some point?

What Girls Said
I think women who are within 4 days of their last menstrual cycle who get IUDs have an easier time symptom-wise. The reason is because the cervix is lower in the pelvis and is still open. If a woman switches from one period stopping birth control to another it can be a harder for insertion. Also pregnancy harmones enlarge all of your reproductive organs, especially the cervix. I have never had children so my cervix is very hard to locate when swapping out IUDs (I have the Mirena which is a hormonal IUD).
