When picking an MD for any medical procedure, do you prefer a man or a woman?

Question

I for one, with few exceptions, will always pick a woman when it comes to Vision, surgery, general practitioner, etc. The only exception in the past has been a man, for Orthopedic procedures. With that said, I did have a woman doctor, do an epidural injection for me with a low back disc problem and she was GREAT! My surgeon told me that she had to be twice as good as the men, because of the historically male dominated field of Medicine.

I would like to hear your experiences with male and female doctors in any field of medicine.

For me it doesn't matter. Either male or female they've seen it all. But its which ever your comfortable with. Heck my urologist is a female. She's stuck her fingers in my ball sack checking for hernias and felt both for testicular cancer and finger up butt for prostate check.

Again dr's have seen it all so preference isn't part of the subject. A dr is a dr.

Its kinda funny i use to date my urologist years ago before she went to medical school so she knows my private area very well... lol

I do not go to doctors very often (outside of standard physicals) so I do not have a lot of experience to draw an opinion. For those physicals, I prefer a woman.

As for mental health, my preference is a female practitioner. It is easier for me to open up to women for some reason.

I want a female gynecologist. I have never had kids.

My brain surgeon, I prefer male.

My orthopedic surgeon prefers males.

My chiropractor, I want a male. Women usually can not manhandle my body the way it needs. A rib popped out and the guy was rough but got it back in place with one try.

My PT I prefer a male but will settle with a female for basic stuff where no thought is required.

Only one particular doctor (if you know what i mean) I prefer to be a woman but her reviews had to be good The rest its only based on the ratings.

I prefer men for non invasive treatments and fully clothed medical treatments such as dental work or body x ray scans and I prefer women for internal medical work, but I have not needed surgery since my teenage years. I also like men in emergency situations because they are more direct and upfront, and that makes me feel calmer.

I would go for someone who can answer my questions and cross-examinations. My parents were doctors, my brother is a biochemist I am a scientist myself. Although I am a physicist I tend to read a lot of biology-oriented materials and journals too. I have more than a decent amount of knowledge in medicine and the body and can find proper if not known already, not necessarily talking about what random people do without any prior knowledge (Googling). Very few doctors actually can answer or keep up with brainstorming, if I am satisfied, I no longer care about gender.

I prefer the woke, equity system. It's not fair that only competent people get to be airline pilots. I'm clumsy, and I break a lot of stuff, but that doesn't mean you can't trust me to fly your family across the Bering sea at night. I bet I could do it in my sleep.

I want a female gynecologist and I prefer a female family physician, but there is such a shortage of doctors here right now that I'll take what I can get, lol. For other practitioners, it doesn't matter to me.

There are so many research studies showing that females aren't taken seriously by male doctors. So many women who could be saved , died because their male doctor thought they are just acting up. You can read many of those researches.

If my pants go down, I prefer a man. I would be too embarassed with a random woman.

For mental health practitioners I prefer a man, women usually look at me in a condescending way or belittle my issues.

I only get white or Asian male doctors. With any other demographic you have no way of knowing if they are actually competent of if they are recipients of affirmative action who other wise would not have made the cut. Also if you get a white or Asian male doctor you know they had to be among the applicants with the very highest grades since they successfully avoided being supplanted by demographics who are held to a lower standard.

Depends on what type of doc. I don't want a male gynecologists or proctologist (hopefully I never need one), but if I ever need major surgery or something like that I would prefer a male.

That completely depends on the procedure in question. If I have to get naked I prefer a female. Primarily though I want the most skilled

My gynecologist is female however if I ever get pregnant I'll go to the male my friend used. Gp is male. Bit judgmental but very cheap and quite good. ENT specialists were all male.

For a regular doc it doesn't matter to me. But if I needed surgery for some serious illness or injury, I would prefer a male surgeon.
