No, its a real thing. My wifes hormone levels were all out of whack after childbirth. And pain from recovering coupled with breastfeeding and lacking sleep doesn't help. Some days she seemed borderline homicidal and suicidal at the same time.
Thats why we bottle fed, honestly. I ain't got man tits, so i did the enfamil thing while wife recovered and rested. HUGE help.
Kids are now happy and healthy 3 and 7 year olds. By comparison lots of their breastfed cousins are weird as shit
Post-Partum depression is very real and quite dangerous, but the differential diagnosis of this condition is difficult and prone to error in that it resembles many other conditions. The mere fact that a woman has given birth and became depressed following the birth is insufficient for diagnosis. Pre-existing conditions such as a personality disorder or an affective disorder such as Bipolar or Major Depression may suggest an acute exacerbation by the pregnancy and birth.
In any event, the signs and symptoms of PPD are complicated and difficult to falsify.
@msc545 You give a good explanation, that illustrates the issue with diagnosising PPD. But in the end its not an excuse for anything. The children were the victims. Someone who is or isn't diagnosised... but believe they are or evn really are depressed doesn't have the right to do what was done here. It's not the responsibility of medical professionals, this women is not some victim of the system... she is a murder. Who is mentally unfit to live in my opinion.
We can't afford to keep making excuses for these people, like it's not their fault they are who they are... blame mommy, blame daddy, blame society or your second grade teacher... but you got no right to defend some one who murders, because of their mental state. In my opinion of they do fucked up they don't deserve to live.
@DaveJord When someone is mentally ill, they are not responsible for their actions since those actions are a product of the mental disorder. Whatever the person has done is in fact NOT their responsibility, morally or legally in most instances.
As a mental health professional, I have every right and also an obligation to explain this before someone gets lynched by an ignorant mob which is what some of you are beginning to sound like.
@msc545: People like you and your mental health profession BS is why I don't take mental health "professionals" seriously anymore.
This b*&%# strangled her own kids to death and you are saying it's not her fault and shouldn't be held responsible.
You have no credibility nor sense of moral justice.
That is pure evil and no excuse for murdering her own children. Why isn't she in prison. You can't trust people like her with children.
She's currently in the hospital because she had a failed suicide attempt.
She should be locked up in prison. No monster like her should be out wondering the street.
Absolutely, and I hope she gets punished to the fullest extent.

If she is so fucked up that she could of done this, she doesn't deserve to live. Yeah, PPD is a really thing and millions suffer... blah, blah, blah...
Honestly, it ain't an excuse for anything. You deal wroth it and move on. Oh my mother, oh my father... my cat died when I was 12... so you spiral into murder and I am suppose to feel sorry for you?
Nah, nope I ain't going do that. Bitch deserves to die.
Anything is a BS excuse to murder children, yours or anyone else’s.
Yeah and the default position is always a "medical condition." Some people are just evil, can't always try to give it a clinical diagnosis.
Don’t get me wrong, mental health can be a contributing factor to anting from bizarre behavior to murder, but it’s no excuse. There is no “the Devil made me do it excuse.” We’re all accountable for our choices. To me excusing murder in cases that don’t involve people who are completely mentally insane or in those who aren’t say mentally retarded to the point they can’t make good judgment in anything at all is inexcusable.
Like a schizophrenic might be so disassociated from reality they don’t know what they’re doing because their totally delusional or a mentally retarded person my have such a low IQ they may not be able to know better for lack or better words. However, a depressed person? No way. That person may be under duress but they know murder is wrong, and such is the case with 99% of people. There may be influencing factors, but for almost everyone except in extreme cases those are not excuses.
@Exterminatore How exactly do you think you know that about depressed people?
First several courts have already ruled in a number of cases like these and the guilty party was found culpable and sentenced.
I don’t need to be a theologian or psychologist to know that people who do such things know murder is both illegal and morally wrong.
Are you trying to tell me a depressed person does not know it’s illegal to murder?
You never answered my question. Are you justifying women with postpartum depression killing their children?
Have you ever heard of Casey Anthony?
Again failing to answer my questions because you can’t.
What if I were depressed and murdered you? It that ok? Legally justifiable?
And what about you? Did you graduate from Harvard with a doctorate in psychology.
I know what a dog is and I’m not a biologist.
So, too trying to call meaningless credentials into play and answer my question. I know you won’t because you can.
I have no obligation to answer your manipulative questions.
I'm a Ph. D. Clinical Psychologist who has treated many depressed people and more than a few very depressed murderers and women with PPD, which I think trumps your education and experience.
Who are you to pass yourself off as an expert in mental health? Where are your court case citations?
You’re not a psychologist. I in no way believe you. Don’t even bother trying to explain that part. I won’t listen.
I can form my opinions with credentials or not.
We don’t need to have this conversation. You can’t answer my questions.
I’ll do it for you. You support murder. You are morally deranged. You want to justify this type of behavior.
Want links? I told you. Casey Anthony. Want more. Get on Google. I’m not your servant.
Conversation over murder lover.
Post partum depression is very real, however it is not an excuse.
It's not an excuse its a mental health issue that needs addressed that can be sometimes be deadly if not addressed. The human mind can be very fragile sometimes.
What about the fridge killer?
