How is it possible to be very allergic to dogs but not cats?

I have no problem with cats but with dogs is a different story. If a friend or relative have a dog in the house, I start sneezing, eyes start itching and coughing a lot. Days later I start developing rashes on my face, neck and arms and parts of my legs.

I went to an allergist specialist. It came out negative on cats but positive (the area got red and swollen so fast) on dogs. How is that possible? To be very allergic to dogs but not cats?

Most allergies are based on proteins at a microscopic level. In a way its the bodies response to what it perceives as highly lethal. Unfortunately the immune systems greatest weapon is mutual destruction.

How dogs are seen as highly allergic well your body probably perceives dogs, smell, fur as highly toxic. So the body responds very negatively by expanding and sending white blood cells and antigens. It is basically the body misidentifying something.

For some allergies can be treated and mitigated but for others its highly lethal.

And for the like 2.5% to 5% of those with lethal allergies they sometimes just dissapear. As my cousin for the longest time had a nut period allergy that was assumed to be hyper lethal but in the last like 2 years she got retested. AND BOOOM turned out she grew out of her allergy O... O?

Do you do better with smaller dogs tho? Like a dog woth less hair like a weiner dog less pet dander or a pug or French bulldog lol

Nope I'm not better with smaller dogs either. I tried to pet a smaller one once and I started itching the next day.

So. I'm the opposite of you. I'm extremely allergic to cats, but not dogs. It has to do with their skin not the fur. I've been on medication, eye drops, weekly allergy needle treatments and nothing has worked. We are born with allergies. It's in our DNA. Sometimes treatments work, sometimes they don't. Wow. Cats shed a lot of fur meanwhile a friend's Rottweiler doesn't shed too much. Yet the Rott got me rashes the following day.
I like both animals. Hopefully it works with pills and eyedrops. I've been prescribed that if I want to visit my friends or others with dogs.
