Would you get rid of your dog if your spouse became allergic to it?

I have to exchange the dog with a cat. Because I would never own a dog. But if I had a cat, it my responsibility and all it might get is restricted movement. Ie not allowed to be in a area in the house. But I wouldn't get ride of it. I had it before the girlfriend so she needs to learn to live with her allergies. But no cat in the bedroom from that time on.

ya... that would be sad and both would know it. But you said spouse. That is a commitment. I would find a good home.
HOWEVER there are allergy shots for that which can overcome the allergy. SO that is worth investigating FIRST.

No, there's no way. My dog is hyperallergenic (I know no dog is 100%, but most people won't get allergy from this breed). Still, even if it happened, there is no way I would get rid of my best friend who's been with me since I was 10. Giving your dog away might cause it to become depressed and put it under a lot of stress. I couldn't do that to her.

Nope. I’m allergic to cats and dogs and have lived and stayed in houses with pets. It sucked but there are ways to deal with allergies so they’ll have to get over it

But you can still treat beings you deem as unimportant with what they deserve. Since dogs feel attached bonds to owners... and they get separation anxiety... I'd hope you would find a way to go about it thats is sensitive and not just "get rid" .
