Would you get rid of your dog for your boyfriend?

Me (21F) and my boyfriend (23M) rescued a 5 year old husky about a month ago. He is great with people, kids, and other dogs. He pulls a bit on the leash but is getting better. He is house trained and loves to cuddle. Unfortunately he has diarrhea for two weeks now. He has a vet appt tomorrow. But that means, accidents every night for two weeks. One of the times ruining our brand new rug. And last night he got it everywhere. He also has ruined the a couple of the blinds trying to look out the window. Now, I get the whole blinds things. Be mad about it whatever. BUT YOU can't GET MAD ABOUT HIM HAVING DIARRHEA!!! He is embarrassed after doing it and is clearly in pain. I refuse to yell at him for that but my boyfriend on the other hand doesn’t. And the dog is starting to seem timid around him. He said he doesn’t care for the dog enough to do this and that the dog is ruining our lives. He wants me to give him back to the shelter. I’m not doing that! I am the one who feeds him, brushes him, bathes him, takes him to appointments. And takes him on multiple walks a day. So far my boyfriend has probably been outside with him alone ONCE. Not to mention, we live on the 11th floor it would be nice to have a hand. What the h-e-double hockey sticks do I do?

Do they not have like dog nappies/diapers for him? Surely there's another way around it.

I wouldn't abadon my pet for a guy, under any circumstances. If he's not a cat person he simply can't be with me. But it seems like he did generally enjoy having the dog around before all this. Despite you doing most of the work.

There are ways around it, he could always live somewhere else for two weeks until the dog gets better. If he's not willing to compromise at all, then yeah it seems like you'll be choosing the dog over him.

If a pet of mine caused a legitimate issue in my relationships of course I'd get rid of it.

I am in the process of finding a new homes for my two cats, as my girlfriend is allergic to them. However, she is very loving and affectionate towards them. In your case, I understand being bothered by a dog that has diarrhea for two weeks but, as you suggested, it is unreasonable to get mad at a dog for being ill. Is this an insight into how he would be f you had a child who was sick? Does this show a controlling aspect of his nature?

I would never abandon my pet. People come and go but pets are loyal companions.

Your dog should stay and just get him treatment for diarrhea, he may have worms, but really hard to say?

I only have a cat, but a girl would go first before Id abandoned my cat, or if I had a dog.
