If the age gap makes you too uncomfortable and you can’t comfortably stand next to him without taking the age into consideration then do you both a favor and end it. Not even saying it rudely, you just don’t need public approval, acceptance, or dictation over your relationships. I don’t know if it’s something about him that makes you insecure, maybe he’s not as mature or established in life I don't know, but get to the root of your issue so you can either solve it or walk away.

Nope. That's not even much of an age difference.
When I was 36, I met a woman who was 30 and we wound up living together for almost 2 years. She was my ideal. I loved her with all my heart and she loved me. The age difference meant nothing.
In your case, the only difference is that people tend to judge relationships in which the woman is older. But that's absurd.
So ignore any critics and follow your heart.
