How close are doctors to finding cure for Diabeties?

Imy parents are old and every 4 th person I know turned out has diabetes over the age of 45 has it. It worries me and I want to know if a proper cure for Diabetics is coming soon. Like in 3-5 years.

Also I was wondering if someone can explain any cure for Diabetic retinopathy

They aren't really trying, as with many diseases it makes more money to treat it endlessly than to cure it.

However, type 2 diabetics can never be cured but with life style changes can usually (not always) get to a point where diet and exercise itself treats it. They won't need drugs to treat it and some people think of this as cured.

The reason it is not cured is because if they go back to bad diet and bad BMI then it will come back.

It can be managed without drugs by having a good BMI and a good diet, and exercise.

The damage to their pancreas and other organs can't be reversed though, which is another reason why it can't be cured. Eye site, kidney damage, neuropathy foot pain, etc...

Ignore the people that say it can be cured, because they are referring to what I said above as cured, using diet and life style isn't cured, it is managing it without medical intervention of drugs.

As for type 1, I wish and hope they would find a cure for that.

There is a huge genetic factor (along with life style) in becoming diabetic.

I was just reading on Soviet medical research and since during WW2 the most serious issue was blood infusion, injury and bone diseases there doctors advanced a lot of it including heart transplants in frogs as trials with some success. However, I don't think the crooked American doctors are doing much sadly

I'd do your research and outside of the mainstream. Start with diet! especially for type 2. readup on gut microbiome.

"Doctors" ONLY find "cures" that produce large sumes of money with proprietary solutions. I don't know if they are close to that, but I don't care either.

Also, avoid crap that can jack up your pancrease. Read the label on one of the store bought birthday cake icing buckets. Go to supermarket and get a bucket, read that label and try to clean that bucket. You can't! That icing is ABSOLUTE GARBAGE! Never feed your children, animals or anyone else that crap.

Now go read the labels of everything else and take a trip to Europe, where they have actual food quality standards and haven't basterdized their grain like USa using in GMO and all sorts chemicals.

That will be much better progress than waiting around for the Bastards that make the problems worse, asking other SOB's to come up with a solution... that only want to pay for their BMW's.

First step is to stop all the "fat is beautiful" bullshit. Diabetes is one of the biggest preventable causes of death. Prevention is far better than any type of treatment or cure. That's true of several of the leading causes of death.

There is research being done to cure diabetes, but I don't think any cure is due in the near future. Don't expect a cure in "3-5 years". If a cure is found I bet it's at least 20 years away. However even if a cure is found, it won't do any good if the person keeps treating their body badly.

Currently the closest thing to a medical cure is weight loss surgery. But even with surgery, doctors are reluctant to do it unless the person shows they can get their eating under control.

A person is responsible for their own health. You can't live an unhealthy live style then expect a doctor to fix it.

Despite your harsh words, I give you leeway. But I must point out many people I know who have diabetes are pretty much on the lean side. I myself have it and mine is exacerbated by not eating enough on the contrary

It might be harsh, but it's true. It's what medical experts say. Controlling weight is pretty standard prevention. No, it might not work for everyone, but it's still the best and most suggested method of prevention.

To my knowledge I don't have it myself (I've never been checked). But it runs in my family and is what killed my mother and contributed to her brother's death.

It's sad and that's what I want to avoid. I am doing light exercise right now but I also have microcytic anemia as well. So, I am trying to be careful with my exercise and diet. I have to use insulin especially when I haven't eaten much

What basically killed my mother was neuropathy. Not directly, but it led to it. Once she was institutionalized it was just a matter of time.

I don't see a cure in the near future. But you are still young and I see a LOT of hope down the road. Medicine is advancing at a tremendous rate and it's accelerating. I think stem cells have huge potential. I think directly manipulating DNA has a lot of potential. Both of those are in their infancy, but have so much potential.

I've been a techy for most of my life. The acceleration of technology is exponential. Don't underestimate it. For diabetes, my money is on DNA manipulation, to not only cure it, but to reverse previous damage.

I wish I had your optimism. Actually, my diabetes was aggravated a few times from trauma. Heartbreaks and I didn't take care of my health. I regret what I did to myself. May be God is punishing me in this way or may be just I am too hard on myself lately. But I let things not in my control get the best of me.
After more than 4 years of this nightmares I want to see a good dream for myself too. Outside of diabetes my life was not exactly perfect. Everything I did turned upside down. But somehow everytime in my crisis and life threatening situation God saved me. So, I want to live moving forward. I don't want to be blind or die of pain. I want to go to heaven but do good things here too

I recently posted this in another question. I was not a religious person. But there was a time that I prayed to whatever might be out there that if I could make it through the hell I was in, that I would never ask for anything again. I lived, and I never asked for anything again.

I survived on the tiniest sliver of hope. It was hope that I couldn't even see. It wasn't even there. But somewhere in the distant corners of my mind I knew it must be.

Jason Fung says you can improve diabetes with intermittent fasting and a keto diet. But some people are so late stage in their illness, they cannot lose body fat - even while doing a keto diet. There is also a danger of losing too much weight if you lose weight too quickly on keto. And not all people are diabetic for the same reasons so this diet might not be ideal for all diabetics.

Actually I lost a lot of weight already. So, I need to eat more to not die of malnutrition. The days I eat more food my diabetes is in control and the days I eat less my diabetes is out of control

They aren't- not in the sense you're hoping for, anyway; there's much, MUCH less money to be made in curing diabetes than in treating it. If a cure were found, it would probably be suppressed.

Unfortunately, the rising worldwide levels of poverty, coupled with ballooning food costs, at a time when the medical establishment has flushed both its integrity and its public reputation down the toilet, means there's going to a massive spike in diabetes cases over the next decade or two. To whatever extent you can, start growing your own food: even if it's just an indoor pot or two of radish plants.

I think if things progress enough, there will be the ability to edit genes, like in science fiction, but probably not in adults. I'm of the mindset they eventually will be able to do it for fetuses but not birthed people. However, it'll probably be expensive and most people will likely not pursue such a thing due to religious beliefs.

I am just concerned that they have found a cure for Cancer in most ways, for HIV even but nothing for Diabeties :/. It is just sad

Treatments are not cures. HIV is treated, not cured. Stop the treatment and it will come back. Cancers are treated. It's your own cells overgrowing. That isn't a cure.

I'm about 99% sure the cure already exists, but gets withheld from the public under some made up pretense because it's far more lucrative (and an ongoing cash cow) for pharmaceutical companies to produce treatments rather than cures. The same can be said for many types of cancer, and HIV/AIDs.

well insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring are really very good. A friend has one.

Another friend had a kidney and pancreas transplant and is no longer diabetic but that is not a road to travel.

Stem cells is what we have to hope for and that is certain to happen in the near future but don't know when.

Get you parents to a doctor to test and advise is best.

I think theirs a cure to everything out there but you gotta be rich to access it and I'm not talking about well off, I mean 1% rich to have the best international Dr's out there to administer a cure that not spoken of & they purposely hold back to keep the regular people back from getting it so they keep buying into big pharma and paying into a useless insurance system.

Diabetes is an insulin disease. Type 2 can easily be controlled by diet, exercise and lifestyle. Type 1 however you will most likely always need outside insulin but how much you need will be up to what you eat.
