Why breastfeeding for long term is seen weird?

breast milk is very healthy and it should be up to kid and mom, but why do others still critisize?

I participated fully in the sexual revolution: a time when making love was like shaking hands and a one night stand was called “hanging out”. It’s seen as weird, I suspect, because eventually you’ll find yourself at some very crowded, public place, like a movie theatre and the child is like “Mom, I’m hungry. Take your boob out” and you’re like “Not right now” so he throws a tantrum and is all “MOM I’M HUNGRY TAKE YOUR BOOB OUT”. I actually saw this happen and I’ve never felt so embarrassed for another person in my life.

I breastfed my children and would again, but if you’re no longer giving your child’s age in months, your child is probably too old for it.

If it's the breast milk the toddler needs why don't you pump it and keep it in a beverage container in the fridge then pour it into a sippy cup instead of breastfeeding.
I must be honest here. I always wondered what the children that were breastfed into late toddler age would be like as an adult.
I bet the weaning period is hard when they are toddlers.

Breastfeeding helps transmit the mother's immune system to the child. If you breastfeed too long, the child's immune system becomes more dependent on the mother and doesn't fully develop on its own. That's one of several reasons why it's recommended to stop breastfeeding before the child turns 2.

It's little to do with the child. But some creeps would rather be the ones latching onto that breast. Hence get all upset when seeing breastfeeding.

Lactation is a kink for some. You raise that desire and they lash out.

why do you need a kid sucking your breast? a newborn and a baby... toddler... are only acceptable to do that. if you still want to give your kid breastmilk, you can pump it yourself and give in glass. but by no means is it necessary to have your 4 or 5+ year old doing that...

This has frowned upon more if the child is male because some people think the child might derive sexual pleasure from this (gasp!) or the woman might (gasp again!). That said, I find that women that do this past say 6 months are sort of unusual.

Because it’s uncomfortable to see a kid who’s old enough to talk still sucking on a boob. I’m not going to tell people how to live their lives, but I wouldn’t want to do that with my kids.

It's just not society's custom, but it depends on family and your culture. Personally, I'd rather drink breastmilk than cows milk! Cows milk is not digested properly and cause inflammation!
