Well, I'll tell you what, if there are any females out there who can't produce milk, they must be some real party poopers in the mammal world. I mean, can you imagine a mama bear trying to feed her cubs with a bunch of empty nipples? That's like trying to shotgun a beer with no beer in the can. It just ain't happening, my friend. But seriously, if there are any such mammals out there, they probably just need a little lactation coaching from a seasoned pro. Producing milk and feeding the offspring is the definition of mammals.

Maybe there is a link between species, like the Platypus, who has all other criteria of a mammal besides lactating.

I know of one Bat species, which has the father lactating and feeding the offspring.

The type of milk eg rich or watery depends on how often they feed their babies.

No I don't think so, but there are mammals where the males also produce milk. Which is a different thing than you were talking about but still kinda neat. Humans aren't normally one of them tho

That’s basically what makes mammals what they are. I’ve never heard of any acceptions. Even whales do.
