Is it possible to have a baby and not know you are pregnant?

My daughter worked with somebody who suddenly had abdominal pains. The paramedics showed up and took her to the hospital. A couple of hours later she delivered a baby boy. She claimed she did not know she was pregnant.

Yes entirely possible.

A work colleague of mine experienced this very same thing, in waking up one morning and suffering with some backache and a headache.

A few hours later with things not improving her husband took her into hospital, whereupon they were told that she was pregnant with a baby boy and would be giving birth very soon, in fact she gave that evening.

Neither of them had the remotest idea at all that she was pregnant, as she was not showing nor had any pregnancy symptoms whatsoever.

So yes, these sometimes unexplainable situations to happen.

wow, that is crazy. The girl my daughter worked with was fat to begin with so it really did not show much.

It is totally downright unexplainable.

The work colleague I've mentioned is actually short in height, certainly not fat, and during the whole time working (right up to the day before she birth) showed absolutely no symptoms whatsoever.

To say we were all totally gobsmacked with this situation, would be a vast understatement.

Having read through all of your comments, some of which are most derogatory indeed, I shall treat this latest one with the contempt it deserves.

Perhaps I should also have mentioned in my original comment that my work colleague was actually forty two years of age when she gave birth... Hardly a "stupid little kid" or any other pathetic disparaging words you prefer calling them.

I have heard those stories, but I can't imagine not knowing for the entire 9 months of pregnancy. I just can't wrap my head around the idea of not noticing my menstrual cycle disappeared, feeling like I have a stomach virus for a solid 3 months, not notice an alien squirming around inside my body, and not at least suspecting I have a UTI because of the increased frequency of the urge to urinate. Then there are all the weird food aversions and cravings and a few other items that would have to go unnoticed.

That reminds me… in middle school I had a teacher who was kinda chubby…one day, she was out…rumor had it that she had a baby. I knew nothing about babies…or pregnancy at that age.
around 20…I had a field instructor…her front area was kinda sticking out…but didn’t say much…next thing we know…she had a baby…. I guess these are the etiquettes you don’t ask women if they are fat or pregnant.
I think they knew they were pregnant.
other than that…I don’t know of others who was in such position.

Yes. They have a TV show called "I didn't know I was pregnant".
It was mostly teenage girls but I guess you can be a little older than that.

I personally never met anyone who had a baby without knowing they were pregnant but I've heard stories of women who only got to know they were pregnant a few hours before delivering a baby so I guess it's possible.
