Is Leprosy going to be the disease of the month?

There has been a major outbreak of Leprosy in Southeastern U. S. It has not been seen in this country in many years

Last month it was Malaria that was making a comeback after not being seen here for decades.

Before that it was Polio. Polio had been eradicated since the 70s.

What is causing the resurgence of these diseases? What will be the disease of the month for September? Smallpox,?

I hope not, my poor mother got a form of it while doing radiation therapy years ago... Only to find out she didn't even have cancer to start with but hey, you gotta love the British health care system. I was told recently that it can take hours now for an ambulance to be dispatched as they don't have enough, don't know if that's true but it makes me grateful to live here in the US.

Some of those outbreaks were in areas where vaccinations were lower than the national average so some of these diseases had a chance to come back.

Yes I remember the oral vaccine in school. I had a friend that got vaccinated but got Polio anyway.

it is in southeast US. mostly Florida.
