Is it possible for someone to not know they have stage 4 cancer?

one of my female friends just found out recently that her father had stage 4 stomach cancer. and there claiming that the diagnosis was a surprise and that they weren't aware of this

but like seriously could there not have been signs before he became so ill? i know its common for some men to avoid the doctor even if there unwell but seriously

I mean they would surely feel the problem but won't know that it's cancer unless they arw told its cancer,
Real life a old women had stomach cancer she could not eat and her stomach pain was really bad everyone else knew she had cancer they just lied its coz she is old she never knew she had cancer
Various other cancer are silent and more Harder to detect

Yes its possible, its also possible it can go away on its own through diet/lifestyle changes, or via medical treatment. Or it could kill the person before they ever find out they have cancer. People don't usually connect the dots unfortunately, so the latter is more likely.

My dad just got diagnosed with stage four colon cancer. No symptoms at all until it got so bad he couldn’t even lift his arms

Yes, it definitely is, particularly with abdominal cancers. They are silent and by the time they have become large enough to interfere with organ function enough to cause pain, they have often metastasized.

but by stage 4 ? wouldn't there be symptoms or issues on a regular basis. he obviously skipped check ups or avoided certain tests

I would think there would be symptoms, but maybe not, or maybe they were confused with other things.

Yes, that is not that uncommon.
Another reason to get regular check ups.
You never know what came be lurking inside of you.

Yeah it's possible, happens all the time. A lot of people don't go to the doctor until they feel like they are going to die.

it sounds like there must of been some kind of incident 2 weeks ago which caused him to be hospitalised and thats when he was diagnosed , so yes it does sound like he avoided till he felt like he was going to die

Some people don't use the hospital unless there's no other choice. Warren Zevon was like that.
