The only worse fate would be losing my body but retaining my mind. Being trapped in a decaying husk is a genuine fear.

naw. dementia isn't necessarily terrible to live with. my granny had really bad dementia. she sometimes forget who i was but she was still happy all the time. meanwhile my other granny was miserable with dementia cause she also had senile depression. so your quality of life with dementia can still be fairly high if your life isn't miserable.

my father died that way and it does come down to that sadly... and you can get it at any age it's not just when your older... it's a very sad disease to get.
