No need. I have this as my personal home gym and do all of the traditional lifts on it for 20 seconds over 3x sets every 2 days. I swapped out the chain for a numbered gymnastic strap though. The spring makes it feel natural and gets rid of the cortical inhibition. You can build just as much muscle as dynamic lifts (within 2-3%), it makes your tendons stronger, reduces chance of injury, is quicker, you get stronger (bend metal), and it is easier to motivate. It is called an Isochain but I have the upgraded Isomax bar with the below plate. I love it. I use a sanddune stepper for warmup before.

Gyms are for people who don't get exercise in a more natural way. It's compensation for not getting any exercise. Someone who actually got good exercise would never feel the need to go to a gym.

Gyms like we have today didn't even exist when I was young. People were more healthy and fit then because they didn't sit on their ass in front of a computer all day.

Most of the activities at the gym are very unnatural and bad for your body. It costs money for an inferior exercise compared to what you can do for free.

A better question is, why DO people go to gyms? Why aren't they getting any exercise and need to compensate?

World evolved to more administrative roles like you said. Besides a skilled trade most jobs are not hands on. & most workouts aren’t unnatural movements. If it wasn’t safe it wouldn’t be as popular as it is.

plenty of body builders in the gym get good exercise, yet many have body dysmorphia and feel the need to return to the gym, while being in vastly better shape than those who never visit the gym.

I do agree with you that there are many controlled movements at the gym with machines such as the Smith Machine being a staple, however every gym, Planet Fitness included will have a free weight area that allow for uncontrolled movements. Moreover anyone that actually spends time in the gym knows to balance their workouts.

Why do people visit gyms? - because they want to look good naked, be respected, and improve their performance in all aspects of their life.

I like working out from home doing calisthenics. For starters it's free. And pullups, pushups, situps, squats and calve raises is pretty much all you need for be extremely fit.

I would prefer to go to the gym for luxury experiences like a sauna, some machines that isolate muscles a bit better and and a hot tub, and checking out hot girls in tights discreetly 😂 But for me I'd rather save my money

I have a gym at home that will cover 90% of what I need to do and I do weighted races for charity every weekend, so get some great cardio off that. I like going to the gym when I have a good gym buddy or can go with my S. O. Lacking both of those, however, might as well just do it at home.

Cuz I prefer to work out at my own pace , so I have my own gym at home , I don’t really
Care for gyms , mainly because I don’t have to worry about someone else using the equipment I want to use and I don’t like knowing other people’s sweat and germs are all over the equipment as well , or having to worry about paying a membership,

I get enough exercise at work, we have equipment at the firehouse, and I have other ways I would rather do than watch some guy lift a weight about as heavy as my lunch box then go flex in front of a mirror.
Then you have the beauty queens wearing just the right outfit not really working out looking in the mirror going aren't I pretty, I'm so pretty.

Too many germs and i did get sick like a rat once for 2 weeks the day after going to the gym. Know i have become a germaphobe because i really don't want to suffer for 2 weeks again. But that is ok because i usually take a walk instead even in the winter i have thermal pants and still go for a walk as long as it's not snowing or below 20.

I have a gym membership which is only $10 a month. So it’s not like it’s breaking the bank. But I don’t go as often, not because I’m lazy but because I get exercise outside of the gym as well. Like hiking, kickboxing, playing basketball, etc. Plus being accused by women these days or leering at them when you’re minding your own business, who wants to take a chance w that.

Never have and never will. Why pay someone to do what you can do elsewhere for free. Go for a bike ride, a swim, do some heavy work in the garden, move a few tonnes of earth with a shovel etc... unless you live in a freezing winter and can't get out to exercise...

Because I get enough exercise on a daily basis & the last time I went to a gym everyone was on their phones taking stupid selfies & mirror shots & If I want to see that shit all I have to do is go to the How Do I Look section in here.

Gyms are for people that don't get regular activity in their daily. When you actually do things, you don't need to simulate them. For example, people that go outside and enjoy the sunshine on their skin, don't tend to go to tanning salons.

Gyms are overpriced for a good facility. I can buy decent equipment and work out at home or i can choose to live an active lifestyle and reep the same rewards.

I struggled for a really long time because no one told me things like the fact I shouldn't workout to the point of exhaustion, but then do it consistently 4-5 days per week. It's tough to get motivated when your body feels totally rundown.

Mainly the costs and the thing of not being able to go at anything close to peak times. It’s free to run outside and you can change the scenery.

I prefer my home gym. It's free, I don't have the excuse that the weather's too bad since i don't leave my home. No waiting for a machine, I can workout at ay time of day. And I can do it in my skivvies if I want.😂

Gotta work, then gotta watch the kids, then gotta sleep. Also, gyms have the most ridiculous policies when it comes to canceling your membership and you can’t just show up and pay per visit and have to sign a multi-year contract.

Simple... there's no reason to pay someone to do things I can do on my own. Walking is my best form of exercise, and a paid gym won't help with that.

I can't work out for the sake of getting in shape. Give me training in something like martial arts and I'll attend regularly and get in shape that way. I prefer fitness and strength to be geared towards a goal that is not just fitness and strength.

That depends on the gym. If the building is new and has adequate ventilation then they are ok. Many gyms around here were built in existing buildings used for other businesses before. The old air conditioning or ventilation system was not designed to keep up with a giant room full of sweaty people breathing hard
