Breath in the steam from a hot shower (where the whole bathroom is steamy like fog). It lubricates the airway and makes it easier to breathe. The heat from the hot shower helps to improve circulation and decongest airways.

Drink a warm herbal raspberry leaf tea to soothe and calm the throat. Do not drink it if you're pregnant or trying to get pregnant. It is okay to drink it if you're on your period.

Laying down can be difficult for congested airways because the cilia (hairs) of goblet cells (they secrete mucous) of the airways work better when they're not fighting gravity by helping mucous and unwanted particles move towards the throat to be expelled. Try propping yourself up on some pillows a little for an incline.

Once or twice a days take 1 tablespoon local organic honey topped up with about 1/4 teaspoon black pepper (ground).
