Honestly, I'm a singer, and apples have been a lifesaver for me. They activate your salivary glands, so that you don't need to constantly drink water. (Although, they do make some people cough, so if that's you, ignore this advice).
If you're going to be talking, stick to warm/lukewarm water, and drink lots of it. Cold water causes tension in the muscles. This is fine if you're not going to be talking (and it might even be beneficial), but if you're going to be using those muscles to talk, tension is the last thing you want.
Stay away from citrus fruits or anything particularly acidic. If you've been coughing, your throat is probably pretty raw. Acid in foods acts as an exfoliant. You don't want to exfoliate your throat after it has already been rubbed raw. Tomatoes are also very acidic, surprisingly.
Similarly, avoid crunchy foods with really sharp angles. (like potato chips). Those can also easily scratch your throat if it's already sensitive. They can also dry your throat.
Sugar and dairy can also be irritants to some people. It really depends on you and your body. The next time you eat something sugary, or something with a lot of milk or cheese, pay close attention to how it affects your coughing. Both of those things can have beneficial properties for your throat, and can help to restore some of the lubricant to your vocal cords, but if it's going to give you coughing fits, it's doing more harm than good.
Warm (not hot) soup may help to soothe the pain in your throat somewhat. But again, not a tomato soup. Something brothy, and not too spicy. Spices also tend to irritate people's throats. The best things you can eat are warm, soft, bland foods. Herbal teas may also help. Chamomile is nice, licorice root works really well if you can find it. Honey really depends on the person. It can help a lot if you respond well to it, but if it makes you cough, stay away from it.
Finally, the best thing you can do is sleep. It helps the body heal, and it keeps you from talking and coughing. Just make sure that when you wake up, you let your voice warm up some before talking a lot. Do some light humming in the morning if you know you'll be talking. (Humming is also a great alternative to coughing, if you have the self control for it. It helps you loosen phlegm and irritants, and get rid of the weird scratchy/tickly feeling, in a much gentler way than coughing does).

Whew, I hate that. I usually drink hot teas, like chamomile, ginger, green, or slippery elm tea. I usually add honey and/or lemon to the tea to increase the flavor, but those two ingredients definitely make a sore throat feel better. I usually drink teas or super cold water to help it, and I avoid any super acidic drinks or foods.
I usually eat a banana too, because they’re generally mushy and don’t hurt when you swallow, plus they’ve got great nutrients such as Vitamin C and Vitamin B6 which definitely help curing a sore throat. I try to avoid acidic or spicy foods, and stick with soft or mushy foods with a sore throat. Yogurt or oatmeal in the morning is great, mashed potatoes or soups in the afternoon/evening.
I gargle with Vodka the second I feel any slight tickle or variation in my throat.
That really is the first attack in almost all cases.
Salt water is ok but I never found it to be as effective.
You want to boost your interferon, C, D (loads of sun) E, zinc and A.
Your immune system is crap without D. Its like a car with no tires. Not going anywhere with out that D.
Interferons are an alarm that a cell will sound when first attacked. The neighborhood is safe because now the SWAT team has surrounded the house. Without it, the hood can be taken over easily.
Milk kefir is really really good for sore throat, gave it to someone with bleeding stomach ulcers in the hospital got better in 2 weeks and she kept doing it for a year. You can find the milk kefir grains on eBay, they’re cheap and all you need is milk. It is really good chugging it in the morning for breakfast or putting it in a smoothie like yogurt

You could have a list of effective neutraceuticals, or plant extracts that are supposed to help with this. But home remedies will depend on what you already have at home. Exercise, sunlight, nose breathing, should be available.
You can do it a couple different ways in the morning either have warm water lemon and honey or at night take a lemon cut it in half put the whole lemon in a blender blend it up until it's like juice add some honey and add some vanilla ice cream it is so good for you
There may be home remedies that could ease some of those symptoms but it may be a bacterial infection. I would go see a doctor as soon as possible.
