Ok so here' my take on this..99% Street fights are avoidable
My straight answer to this would be Boxing or Krav Maga in my opinion
But even if it means you have to run or beg the attacker to leave you or just comply to his demand like money.. just do it and don't feel emasculated rather feel proud that you chose to be smart
There are a million things that can go wrong , even if you are the greatest fighter in the world, just don't
Maybe you can take on the person in a fair fight, but there's no referee or rules in street
Say what if he has a gun or knife? ... You throw some moves on him and he just pulls out his glock and shoots.. it's over
Or in a different case say what if he has friends? Beating a lot of multiple opponents is of course a Hollywood fantasy
In both the above cases you get seriously injured or worse
Now even if it turns out that you beat up your opponent, since this is a fight with no protection or safety... there's a big chance that you'll end up seriously injuring the other person.. that's enough for the cops to visit you and you'll lose a lot of energy there
Last but not the least if he's more trained than you then you're the one who's gonna end up seriously injured
So see? It's a lose lose situation
Grappling is great but somehow that's not very good for street fighting in my opinion
Especially if there are multiple opponenets, grappling is crap
If you are a Professional boxer then you can easily take out 2-3 average guys with your punches but I really doubt whether a Pro grappler can take on multiple opponents
For the streets, I think Muay Thai is very effective. Krav Maga is literally intended to kill, and I don't think that should be the aim unless you want jail time. Muay Thai is called the art of 8 limbs and teaches you to effectively injure your opponent with your hands, elbows, feet, and knees. It can end fights very quickly.
In any fight though it's important to be an all rounder though. You need to be knowledgeable in preventing being grappled or getting out of it, how to distance yourself, footwork, guarding, how to throw a punch or kick, etc.
There's a guy that told me he dedicated his whole life to martial arts and he said in his 40 years of experience, whenever 2 people did not know what the other was good at, the grappler usually ended up winning. So making sure you're grapple proof is probably one of the best skills you can pick up
The first thing you learn in martial art for defense is: run when you can run away. Avoid conflicts.
I'm sure they are all good because they improve confidence

Wrestling/Judo/Jiu-Jitsu... Nothing hits harder than the concrete. Grappling puts people upside down with their head, neck, clavicle, ribs, etc. driving into the cold concrete with their entire body weight and the the entire body weight of the person throwing them following behind it. Bones break, concussions occur, contusions and abrasions form due to blunt force trauma, the wind gets knocked out of people's lungs, they get knocked out... It's quick and unforgiving. There's no soft mats on the sidewalk... People go down. Most street fights start at close range. Most end up with some form of half-assed grappling because most people don't know how to fight. If you think all you need is a gun, you better know how to wrestle or you just brought a gun for the person that knows how to wrestle to use on you. They will take it from and shoot you in the back. If you're lucky you'll be in a wheel chair for the rest of your life.
muai thai, krav maga, win chun.
boxing is only punches, it leaves you defenseless against kicks and grapling
teakwandoo (might spell it wrong) too mainly focuseson kicks and is defenseless against punches and grapling
wrestling too.
kick box, muai thai, krav maga, winchun, in short MMA is the way.
overall...
probably kick-boxing... bit of a quick stun and then walk and go away, avoid bigger problems.
I see Krav-Maga mentioned... and if this is what you need then you are in much more serious trouble, lmao...
I've been into Semi Pro fighting for years so in my knowledge I would say... for a street fight the best martial art is RUN-Jitsu
I think Krav Maga is the best for the streets.
You're right, there's nothing to gain from street fights and there are 1000 things that can go wrong
Any martial art with a mixture of striking and grappling.. Or a combat sport where you're fighting a lot.. Boxing and muay thai seem to be some of the best because of the extreme conditioning..
Whatever you choose, drop the ring rules. Your opponent won't think twice about eye pokes, grabbing your scrotum and pulling down, etc.
For one on one bjj. For multiple people Jeet kune do.
Gunfu.
Mma.
Just just avoid it for god's sake
