They just have to have the same levels of hormones cis women do, and then when they have a baby their body can naturally produce breastmilk the same way! I didn't know this until recently (and I didn't start hormones until after our baby was already weened, so it doesn't apply to me anyway), but I find it so cool that this can happen! I guess it's not just decoration that everyone is born with nipples. 😊

Trans women are males and have to take estrogen injections or pills to reach the same level of a natal female. Natal females get their estrogen levels from their ovaries. Trans women are born with male reproductive systems. They aren’t female.

Also I’m not too sure about this but since trans women hormone levels are artificial and not natural and caused by pills the breast milk might not be good for the baby.

They are the same hormones, no matter where they come from. The milk is exactly the same chemically and nutritionally. The only reason it would be bad for a baby to drink it's mother's breastmilk is if the mother has been taking something dangerous into her body like alcohol or opioids.

Yes, they can. You don't have to have ovaries or a uterus to breastfeed.

That's right! You only need the right hormone levels, since everybody has the potential ability to grow boobs and produce breastmilk. And hormones are what activate that ability. 😊

sure thanks, but why anyone would live within the confines of the chemical engine they were given is beyond me... when we can synthetically alter it to produce more and change it's function. I want to feel powerful, so I can go way beyond my limited genetics. There's other stuff that makes me 10x stronger than most, that comes in handy.
If I need to later on, I can take the estrogens and such, and make an offspring and feed it from my milk producing breasts. One body can do it all, who needs pair bonding and all this complicated mating stuff when we have science? Nature is fine, but we can overrule it. Not sure I trust our system and the implications, but whatever. It's just a hormonal and emotional "engine" of life. Who knows what the problems are with that.
Life is just a bunch of chemicals... where are the boundaries?

Well one big boundary is money. If you're wanting to take hormones to gain new bodily functions, but it's not for a medical reason like deficiency or dysphoria, then you will likely have to pay for it out of pocket since insurance won't cover it. You'd also have to find a doctor who will prescribe it for you even though it's not for a medical reason, and that could be difficult.

Interesting. I know men can lactate when they have underlying medical issues or hormonal imbalance but I didn’t know that they could produce enough milk to actually breastfeed a baby. Also, I think more studies definitely need to be done to look into the claims of male breast milk being the same as female breast milk nutritional value wise.

Because the male body isn’t supposed to produce milk unless their hormones are messed up or they have an underlying health concern. If a man is lactating then he should get himself checked out.

I don't know about trans women tho, the hormone treatments they subject their bodies to have definitely altered their bodies but it’s still unnatural. I understand wanting to suppress testosterone levels in order to present as more feminine looking but to the point of lactating is just bizarre to me. But hey, they ain’t hurting me so I’m not gonna make a fuss about it but I still think it’s extreme.

That's literally the only case I'm talking about is trans women with hormones in the normal female range. Not someone with health problems. So yeah, someone who shouldn't be able to lactate but is should probably get checked out. That's not what I'm talking about tho I'm talking about women with normal health and hormone levels, whose bodies reacting naturally by lactating when they have a baby? Of course that milk will be good for the baby (unless baby has allergy or something, one of my cousins had a milk allergy and couldn't breastfeed as a baby cuz of that).

Trans mothers and their partners and family, mostly. Also cis mothers who have hormone deficiencies and also take estrogen, and their partners and family. Yknow, the people it effects and those who care about them. I'm sure when invitro fertilization became a thing only the women who couldn't naturally give birth (or couldn't do it safely) cared a lot, and the people who cared about them. But it's still a good thing to be able to do something you for medical reasons hadn't been able to do before. Most people like when new treatment options become available to help people who have different medical conditions live a more normal life.

Well mentally ill people can be doctors and parents, sure (disabled people have rights to nondiscrimination in workforce and rights to pursue happiness in a relationship and family, just like anyone else). But also just generally... all doctors in this field should be aware of different treatments that can help if a mother is having trouble breastfeeding due to hormones. And any mother can have trouble with this, and them and their partner will likely want to find a solution, don't you think?
