What do you think about doctors who lie about their patients' illness progression?

Started the year on a bad note really. My 18y/o sister lost a battle to blood cancer February 29th. Amazing human being I tell. Everyone believes this disease nursed her to 18. She went to numerous doctors who kept misdiagnosing her. One doctor and clinic after the other. The last doctor lied though. He made us believe that she will get after stem cell transplant but she passed away three days later. He could've at least told us (and not her) the truth. I don't get why he gave us hope honestly.

I know this is probably an answer you don't want to hear, but it's the first thing that came to my mind.

I don't know what county you live in, but if you live in America 🇺🇸 when a person turns 18 they become an adult. There are laws called HIPPA laws that protect the patient from telling anyone their medical information. The doctor's have an obligation to the patient to keep there medical information confidential.
Maybe he wasn't lying but he just couldn't say very much about her condition.

I went through this with my son as soon as he turned 18 it was like I wasn't even his mother anymore.
He was in a clinical trial for 18 days when he was 18. After the 18 days was up, I asked what condition he had, what was his diagnosis and they said because of the HIPPA laws he couldn't tell me.
I was furious!!! I told the doctor that I am the one that has to take care of him, but you won't even tell me, his mother, what medical conditionbhe has. He gave us a referral to a doctor for some medicine. Only by finding out what that medicine was used for did I find out his diagnosis. Not from a doctor, but a medicine bottle!
So, I am very sorry for what happened with your sister. It shouldn't have happened in my opinion.

And I am very familiar with going from doctor to doctor to get a diagnosis and get treatment. It's a long arduous process and in the meantime we just get sicker!

I also have had doctors that are, well, ignorant. Even doctors that are specialist are ignorant and don't know what is wrong with a patient.

I, myself, went to a world renowned doctor that was a gastroenterologist for my stomach. He said before I even said a word to him, if you're vomiting and have nausea I can help you. But if you have pain and bloating (which is what I had) then I can't help you.

Again I am so sorry for youross and that you feel betrayed by the medical establishment. Please, in the future don't expect too much help from almost all doctors. There just aren't many good ones anyone.

The problem wasn't us not knowing the diagnosis but rather the doctor keeping from us how far in the sickness was. He didn't have to tell my sister that she only had a week to live but could have at least gave us heads-up yk. Here we have what is known as palliative care (I think all the countries do) and I honestly would have appreciated the lady part of this care.

Doctors have Manny illinnness that has no treatment to them.
They can't help but one can get a lot of information from Societies like MS , Cancer and Heart.

That I know very well however there are treatments that grant them a few years to live and I would have appreciated them telling us "she's far too gone, there's nothing we can do" rather than "we'll do chemo and see what goes" knowing full well that she didn't even qualify for it.

I never said that doctors who misdiagnosed her lied I am however saying that it's one thing to know (her last doctor) that there's nothing that you can do for someone yet lie and give people hope.
