Yes, but only when I was a Gymnast and the water heater was only big enough to give us all about 3 minutes of hot water! Then once I had to do it when the hot water heater broke in the dorms. but it was fixed by that evening! I actually considered skipping my morning shower, then I got the heebie-jeebies, and took the fastest shower of my life! Like I mean “tits, pits, and bits” and I was out! It was truly FREEZING! At least in the Gym, it was just tepid, not ice cold like that morning I the dorm!
I hope that helped.
Laura 🤗
Oh that’s so cool! That’s when I started, I absolutely loved it! why did you stop so young? I finally retired after I was raped by my uncle! After that happened I did try returning the next year, but I just began to be super-aware of ALL the single men (w/o family in the events) at the competitions, with huge camera lenses that would follow me, and all of the female athletes around, they were not in the press area, and not one of them was interested in the men's competition! A quick search on my phone, and I found lots of websites where they sexualize children and ESPECIALLY young teens with super close-up crotch shots of us in our leotards, during our routines, with our legs open as wide as possible! These guys were following me with their lenses, I could SEE IT FFS! It just made me feel dirty, doing the one and only thing I had left! I was utterly destroyed when I finally decided to just stop, and I mean right in the middle of a competition! But quit! I retired from gymnastics RIGHT THEN! I was 13. It’s still painful to even think about it, and how I lost the one thing I truly loved doing! Did you watch the Olympic Gymnastics try-outs?
Yes, according circumstances I take regularly a cold shower. For instance before diving into the swimming pool, I like to have a short cold shower in order to prepare my body. After the swimming session I prefer a warm shower, but sometimes the water isn't heated, and then I just accept the situation.
On the other hand, every morning I wash my face and arms with cold water. I noticed that this improves the resistence against cold. Cold water is also a good remedy for some particular skin problems like itchings and rashes. Certainly worth the test for those having such skin problems.
The world is changing in so many different ways so fast... One day there might not be any power for hot water so it's probably good to get used to them LOL I hate saying that but we never know what's going to happen... But if that day does come you can use black PVC pipe. Make it so you can fill it up with cold water put it on your roof or someplace high and the sun will heat that water up instantly so you can always take hot showers if the power goes out LOL
I don't know how true the entire chart is, but if you take a hot shower it’s good to end with a few minutes of v cold shower to tighten pores and increase blood circulation. (If you don’t want to do cold shower, at least do ice cold water on your face in the sink to close up your pores and give your skin a nice natural glow.)

when I have fever, cold shower works better than any meds...
but I'm definitely not a fan of cold showers :D
Cold shower in fever? Is it ok to do this?
@lastlyfound I've heard of taking a lukewarm shower can help reduce your fever gradually without causing shivering but never cold showers ;)
@Mr_twoface when you have a fever lukewarm water feels cold AF... and I"m rarely sick... but if I already am, 40C is a standard...
I occasionally take a quick cold shower just like you said to have an extra boost of energy. In heated countries, a cold shower is sometimes nice as well. Though generally, whether it being cold of warm in the air, I tend to take hot humid showers.
I prefer doing it in the winter time when the water can get really cold. And I prefer to end my showers with cold water. I do it to help with inflammation & to practice not emotionally reacting to extreme sensory input. Also the adrenaline boost ain't too bad if I'm feeling emotionally down.
Summer cold water is annoying to me. It's not cold enough.
I want the water to be so cold that I'm instantly hit with full body numbness that radiates across my entire being. So cold that my sensory neurons need about 3-5 seconds to even discern if it's cold water or if I just turned it to the most scolding hot setting my home could summon.
So cold that I get temporary memory loss & have to pull back the curtain, look in the mirror deep inside my eyes to try and piece together who tf I was before I even turned the knob.
So cold that I leave that bathroom a better man. A changed man.
Have you never lived in a warm / hot climate that is tropical?
Everyone here has taken a cold shower , and often because thats what they wanted to do , or its near a pool or whatever.
Plus , Victoria Australia 90s from memory , no gas for entire state , only those with electric hot water had hot , middle of winter , no choice , mandatory , that was cold , seriously cold.
Jeff Kennet the then Victorian premier , called it " Character building " , in the end I kinda agreed with him , I'd soap up outside and then.. BANG , while screaming , I mean I was made for hot climate.
Yes, I take them almost every time I shower. I take a regular hot shower, then about 20 minutes of cold shower. It gives an energy boost, helps with your mood, and all kinds of things!!
That's weird. I saw this question the other day. I had thought about it being my first on Wednesday. My A/C is out and I walked into the cold water with my clothes on. I was pretty mad. Then sat down and saw a dark wall coming toward me. Within a couple minutes a storm hit. It felt like all north facing windows was a huge ac duct. The temp dropped from 93 to 71 instantly.
I heard it in the film, Corrina Corrina. And I loved it and found it on YouTube lol. This version by Billie Holiday

Same reason as you a week before. Water heater stopped but only because my landlord is redoing it to be more reliable. Not super fun. Today though it was more about testing a common claim about cold showers but I can't say it had the effect suggested.
Does away with horniness. Urban myth I've concluded lol
Cold is relative. In summer I take showers with 25C water and it appears to be cold. I have a shower tap with temperature regulation. 13-19C water that comes from water distribution network is too cold and it hurts on skin.
Sure many times. Sometimes when camping and there was no hot water. Other times if I was real hot from a workout and it was hot outside. I think in high school I did it a few times to get a boner to chill out.
I started the day i met my husband. Wasn't even into boys or men at the time but just shaking his hand and it was butterflies down there, I had to change my underwear when I got home and the wet dreams started. We weren't even dating at that stage because of the age difference. Anyway I was waiting for marriage b4 having sex so as we were dating there was a lot of temptation and sometimes he'd get very hot and heavy and have to be taken care but after that I was litteraly on the brink and the intense wet dreams, when I say wet I mean it because sometimes the bed was wet so lots of exercise and cold showers were a must. The exercise paid off on the wedding day and the wedding night lol.
I have a few times, usually not intentionally.
The most memorable time is when I moved back to the states. I got back late at night, and it was 24 degrees fahrenheit with snow and ice. All the heating was out, so I took a very cold shower after a very long day lol.
I prefer picture related: scorching hot like I am ascending from hell.
Yes cold shower or ice cold bath is actually a sort of coping skill that people do. A co-worker of mines does this. It has been superrrr hot here, so I have taken cold showers this past week😩
I can't do cold nor hot showers. They have to be exactly the right temperature or I can't tolerate them at all. If there isn't any warm water available, I'd rather just use wet-wipes across my entire body.
I only take cold showers when I want to seal my curly hair. Cold water reduces frizz and locks in water.
I used to take cold showers only, but realized that my hygiene took a hit. I miss doing them though. I felt so much better.
That's my guess. From my experience, I could take a full shower, and certain parts of my body still wouldn't smell fresh. I would re-shower a lot, especially if I was planning to have sex with my wife that night.
What I should have done, and need to get the willpower to do, is start the shower warm, scrub my body down, then switch to cold for the rinse, and the rest of whatever I have to do, like shaving.
I already had two cold showers, just today...
I'll definitely heat that up...
Because I had a fever of 104° degrees as a teen I had to get my fever down so I had to do it when my mom was talking to the doctor at 4 o’clock in the morning
The healthiest thing you can do is start with a hot warm shower to open up your pores and exfoliate your skin. That removes some of the dirt and oils in your pores. Then finish up with cold water which helps to tighten the pores and skin and gives a refreshing feeling. It also makes you more mentally alert
My ship was in Dry Dock and dependent on Shore Power. After every workday, the civilian workers would cut the steam feed to the ship, leaving it with no hot water for showers. This was in NYC in December.
Yeah, we endured freezing cold showers so that we could experience Liberty Call in the Big Apple.
I take cold showers whenever I have a sunburn. Helps the burn to go away and not blister.
That combined with aloe infused soap is a life saver when you have a bad sun burn
ever been so hot that even a cold shower doesn't feel cold lol
it was very refreshing and uncomfortable at the same time lol
I have because growing up, my parents didn't have access to hearing etc.
Now that am older we have heating but sometimes I would take cold showers especially during summers when the place is too hot
Never on purpose. I was definitely super alert but still, no thanks.
For me:
Winter = Warm Shower (not Hot, Warm)
Summer = Cold Shower
🥲 during summers the tapwater is already hot... and I mean HOT 🥲.
Yeah. I end my showers with a cold shower, because if i try to just straight up have a full cold shower, my hair comes out greasy because the follicles didn't open.
Yep. And keeps your hair smelling good & soft for longer
Summer is officially here & so is the grass cutting season so when I cut my grass I’m usually soaked with sweat so afterwards that is when I take a nice cold shower.
Not a cold shower, but we did ice baths a lot
Occasionally at swimming pools the showers are cold. I'd never take one by choice.
When I am hot and sweaty, like after working outside in the heart and sun, a hot shower is not good. I turn down the temp for a cool, not cold, shower.
Yes, when for some reason hot water was not available, or it was just horrifically hot weather.
I did when I lived in Central America and hot water is spotty at best. Also, I swim in the Pacific all year round and never use a wet suit.
I often shower in cold water in the mornings , it’s invigorating, and refreshing. Followed ofcourse by a hot cup of coffee ☕️
Yes we did some cold weather training and some clever person believed we should follow Wim Hof and his approach, part of that is cold showers.
Yes. All usually do this a few times a week.
I love hotttttt showers but I remember when I was younger I used to keep turning down the hot water to see how cold I could stand it. This feels great on hot days with no AC.
I live in the desert now and there is no such thing as a cold shower.
Yes, but only when I’m trying to cool down from working in a hot environment
I did once at camp when the water heater broke. Not fun. I would never do that voluntarily unless I was really overheated.
Yes, on a camp site when the boiler wasn't working!
With the current temperatures, a cold shower is essential for survival.
Yes I often shower cold in the summer and warm in the winter :)
I did it because I read how healthy and good it is.. and makes you feel alive!
While living in a cabin. While on camping trips. When the water heater did not work.
I take cold showers when it's hot. If not, I use warm water. I don't like hot showers.
I have a few times, it makes me feel more fresh and energetic
Yeah, I took two of them last week when it was nearly 100 degrees here.
Yes, it's a good way to relieve stress and boost immunity.
Yes every time I take a shower I finish with just cold water. It's invigorating and gets the blood flowing
Yes I have, before swimming, or when the water don't want to heat up. But I don't like cold shower
Yes I've done it plenty of times sometimes I had no choice like when your leaving the beach and you want to get the sand of of you that water is always cold
All the time. Its warm where I live but I like the cold. Also helps wake me up in the morning.
Yes for the gym, makes my voice strange wakes me up. I never do it on my head though because fever.
I never have and I never will. I don't even like taking warm showers, because I absolutely hate being wet.
Hot showers.
The heat expands... anybody else's butt gets bigger when they shower in hot water? 🤔
I typically start a shower hot and slowly decrease the temp because I get too hot. I always end up making it super cold so I don't swear after a shower. I have like no safe middle ground
Sweat *
Cold shower if it's hot outside though just for a few minutes.
Yes, multiple reasons ranging from being really hot to not having access to hot water
I swear a lot like I mean out the shower immediately sweating! Cold showers actually help my body temperature stay stagnant.
Yes I love cold showers... It helps me relax and calm down my very chattery mind
Yeah I like hot showers more myself but I have took cold showers if it really hot out or if I need to get rid of a boner lol.
