I have been saying for many years, way before this finding that the direct radiation from mammograms cause breast cancer.
Think about this - and this is my own observation.
A woman is told to get their first mammogram at age 30 and to have one every year thereafter.

Well, I am going to be 70 years old next month and if I had listened to the powers that be and had direct radiation to my breast EVERY YEAR AS THAT IS THE PROTOCOL, I would have had 40, count them, 40 direct radiation hits to my breasts.

I stopped having mammograms at least 20 years ago except for one in 2016. I don't have breast cancer either.
But my childhood friend, Judy followed the protocol and had a mammogram every year and she will be 70 in November.
She has had bread cancer twice about 5 and again 6 years ago. Had both breasts surgically removed (double mastectomy) and is always very sickly.
So, drawing from my own ideas about this subject I concluded these findings many, many years before the medical professionals came to my conclusion about mammograms at direct radiation and breast cancer.
It's so common sense and logical to me and I am right.

I have no history of any kinds of cancer in my family and I am not going to have any mammography any time soon. I do my periodic check once a week. While I did find it very difficult in the begin to make any distinction among all those lumps and bumps that are found in a breast, I have become more secure about checking them and I find it is important for any woman to start their own check as soon as the breast starts developing in order to get familiar with all the lymph nodes that can be found. The better you know your own breast, the more confident you become at assessing it and any change could be addressed much easier.

As for a biopsy, I have never done it either as I haven't found any alarming signs that would warrant a biopsy.

I can only recommend to invest in those 5 minutes once a week in front of a mirror. Do it for yourself but also do it for the sake of those that love you. You owe it to yourself and it can put your mind at rest and avoid a mammography if there is no need for it.

While you are right of course, I have thefeeling that because I never had a historycof any breast cancer in my family or relatives, I feel that at my age, I am still in a safe age bracket where I don't need to worry yet about premature breast cancer development. However, with age comes the increased risk and ultrasound and/or thermography will certainly on top my preferred choices for early breast cancer detection.

I have seen no evidence, but I'm thinking rough treatment of boobs doesn't help any.

I have been doing some very basic research on the internet for the past few minutes and it appears that mistreatment of breasts is not a cause for cancer. This is apparently a myth that rough treatment could cause breast cancer. At best, it can cause lead to a benign (not cancer) lump known as fat necrosis. This is scar tissue that can form when the body naturally repairs the damaged fatty breast tissue.

For the record, I always perform breast examinations upon my lady, and I always feel her up for any potential new lumps. :D

Yes I did and...

The typical radiation dose of a mammogram is.4 millisieverts and getting 1000 millisieverts increases your risk of cancer by 5.5%. So each mammogram you get will increase your risk of cancer by.0022%. Basically, you'd need 450 mammograms to increase your risk of breast cancer by 1% and most women will get 1/10th that.

As for the benefits, well mammograms reduced breast cancer fatalities by 40% since 1990; and that's the aggregate and some studies have indicated that it can reduce breast cancer mortality by 1/2.

As for over-diagnosis, mammograms don't "diagnose" breast cancer. They find masses and biopsies determine whether or not the mass is cancerous. If the biopsy indicates it's cancerous when it's not, that's a problem with the histological analysis, not the radiology.

So ladies, make sure you get those knockers squeezed once a year <3

I’ve never had a mammogram as it’s never been a concern for me. I do at random check my breasts to see if anything is out of the ordinary. My maternal aunt died from breast cancer when she was 22.

I had a biopsy done in March for this

Thankfully it’s nothing more than a really bad case of eczema.

It said that biopsies can push cancerous cells to other parts of the breast. Thankfully you didn't have any to push deeper.

That’s definitely concerning, my mother died from that and I don’t want daughters going through that or my girlfriend, at least they’re are other ways to test without radiation
