fat liberation or fat acceptance is a movement, according to google is a movement that aims to break the social stigma of obesity.
As a "former fat" I honestly don't really understand the point, obesity at least in America is on the rise so its not uncommon to encounter overweight people here. At my heaviest I was flirting with type 1 obesity and hated the way I looked and felt in my body because I've never been that heavy in my life, I knew I couldn't do the things I used to be able to do because of the weight that I had put on, I think a lot of the way people tend to gain weight is from little bad habits that pile up before you even realize it which was the case with me.
I don't see how it would be beneficial in any way if we as a society started to "accept" obesity. If anything I think we could really do with learning about how to repair our relationship with food, I will admit I still really struggle with my relationship with food but having a balanced diet and exercising is so important ! The human body is amazing and resilient if you can find it in yourself to push yourself to your limit and not give up on yourself !
